Johnstone was brilliant last season.
Henderson worries me every time he goes near the ball.
Really surprised at the squad number change too.
OG could've played them off each other for a while. There was no need to commit to one or the other whether they liked it or not.
Your 'number 1' always needs that competitive edge knowing someone just as good is beside him.
That edge is gone now in one foul swoop

Johnstone for me. better distribution, makes less mistakes, all round better keeper. Better with the ball at his feet. I was surprised when we signed Henderson in the first place, and then I saw his wages against Johnstones!!! Beggars belief!

SJ.

With SJ in goal last weekend I do not think we see the feeble paw for Brentford's second goal.

More generally, he seems more commanding and is more consistent. I'm surprised he isn't our #1.

Sam Johnstone was my vote but I see why he is now 2nd choice.

All the financial rules right now mean that a keeper who cost nothing, will be pure profit so it is unfortunate but that's the situation at every club.

Our big mistake was buying Henderson full stop. We didn't need to spend £20m on a keeper. Although he was necessary when SJ got injured.

While Remi Matthews being completely out of his depth for PL football (Poppadom wrists doesn't even cover it), we do need a decent back up.

Henderson is a fair keeper and can make some outstanding saves, but overall SJ is the better keeper.

I'd sooner we sell Henderson but it was always going to end this way. You cant have 2 keepers who both want to be in the England squad playing at the same club.

I’ve always been a fan of Hendo since he was at Sheffield Utd. He was everything to Wilder’s team, people raved about that team at the time, but they fell apart quickly without him and it was obvious to me who they missed the most.

He got effed over at Man Utd, De Gea was getting less and less reliable and Deano had been putting in better performances out on loan, they made promises to Dean that never got followed through on, mistake on their part one of so many that club made.

I knew he was a masterstroke signing when we picked him up and I’m thrilled that he not only lived up to my expectations but exceeded them in the end. He is such a vital part of this team. I’m laughing my back side off at all the detractors who thought Johnstone was the better of the two.

I'm happy with Henderson but Johnstone is a good keeper. Right now his form probably isn't great because he is in a team that hasn't won a game all season and I suspect he doesn't trust his defence.

It’s a two-way street. I’m sure he doesn’t have a lot of faith in them but equally I wouldn’t expect they have much faith in him either at the moment.

I saw the pros and cons in them both.

When SJ and DH were fighting for the #1 spot, DH had a higher ceiling in terms of ability but at that time was less consistent. He made more mistakes. He seemed more injury prone.

SJ was comparatively more consistent and made fewer obvious errors. He did have a hand injury issue from memory but in general was less injury prone. He did break back into the England set up when playing for us on account of his consistently good performances.

So both were very good goalkeepers for us when their time in SE25 overlapped. Since SJ moved on DH has grown into the role and is now an essential first team player. Not only that, but he has emerged as a leader at a time when several influential players (Eze, Ward, Guehi) have or seem about to move on.

Bottom line is when DH plays at his best there are few, if any, better goalkeepers in the league. It is all ifs and buts but with another goalkeeper playing in the FA Cup Final last year I do not think we win it.

Walter Benitez also looks very good in the few games he has played for us. Guaita did a great job for us before DH and SJ were on the scene. So it is all positive right now.

I preferred Sam at the time, but it’s amazing what a cup final penalty save and win can do. Deano’s a legend now😎
Plus, he is the better keeper. I think the main issue was spending that much on a goalkeeper at the time. We needed other positions and didn't get them. However, Henderson has proved to be well worth it. Although he has been letting the odd soft goal in recently, he always makes at least one or more world class saves. And it's that you expect him to make those saves that shows just how good he is. He'd be England's no 1 if it weren't for the fact that Pickford conceded precisely no goals throughout the whole of qualification. Which was impressive.

I voted for Henderson, i honestly think there is no better keeper in the Premiership, he gets criticised for his distribution, but i cant see that.

I think they’re on a par, but maybe deano’s a bit more agile.

I think my 90 year old one legged neighbour could play in goal for England against some of the opposition they play in qualifying these days and keep a few clean sheets
