I caught the end of a segment on Sky Sports news this morning with Darragh MacAnthony (the Peterborough owner).

He was saying that Oliver Glasner at this moment in time would in a good position to be manager of year, and that if Palace were beat City on Sunday then we would genuine title contenders.

I almost choked on my lemsip and I wondered if I had started getting delirious from from my flu.

After the paracetamol kicked in and I realised I wasn't delirious, it posed a few things.

Firstly, I think beating City is going to a step far on Sunday.

Secondly, if somehow by hook or by crook we managed finish 4th and qualified for the CL, would be enough to convince OG to stay ?

Unfortunately, even if the unbelievable happened and we did qualify for the CL, I can't think that will be enough for him to stay.

There an article on news now today stating the Woody Johnson is to step in to try and get OG to stay. Maybe Johnson will make personal reassurances over financial commitments. But the article does say the relationship between Parish and Glasner is poor. That comes as no surprise.

The American owners are going to have really stand up and not remain the background (hopefully, the rumours about Johnson getting involved are true) because Parish is not going to convince Glasner to stay.

AT this point in time you would have to say Top 3 would consist of Arsenal, City and Villa. That 4th spot is really up for grabs.

Chelsea, Spurs, Liverpool are all inconsistent. It brings into play the likes of us, Everton, Brighton. The opportunity is there. It's Champions league football that American owners crave.

And they know this for sure because? Or is it a case of more media hack s*** stirring?

It’s always better to move on when you are at a pinnacle rather than be told to move on because of poor results.
Consequently I see Oliver leaving when it suits him not us. His personal stock is high at the moment and other clubs would pay him handsomely to join them.
FA Cup, Community Shield, European football, currently 4th in the Premier League; his status is high at the moment.

I was going to post about this too.

It is not beyond the realms, unbelievably that we could reach the champions league.

As crazy as that is, I don’t think anything is beyond this team and manager at the moment.

Now say we do indeed make it. Does Olly, MG stay? Surely they would want to see out the project?

if we are capable of beating Liverpool, the Prem Champions, 3 times in 4 months, or thereabouts. Then anything is possible. Leicester won the prem, why not us. Had we kept Eze and Olise...then yes surely.

the problem being there is a financial glass ceiling. You gotta be a giant to show that kind of staying-power. Call me a pessimist. I would settle for second in the Prem table and also winning the Mickey-mouse title in Europe.

The thing about work, any job, is that there has to be an element of job satisfaction, and perhaps even enjoyment, and a smidgen of challenging oneself. Pay is also significant.

However much you want to contractually tie someone down, or offer them the contents of the company bank account, if they don't want to work for you, or work isn't as good as it should be. then they're going to seek pastures new.
SP is running the show for CPFC. and I don't see his philosophy on running the business being subject to change. (but it might be)
Contractual discussions are there to enable compromise that parties can work together with. Let's hope that is the end product, because in this instance, I think it might be worth accommodating Oliver Glasner's demands, at least so he stays

None of us want to be looking at Glasner working somewhere else next year, and wondering "what if ?"

I don't think we have a chance of beating City with our injuries but our biggest problem is that we just don't generate the revenue to spend big on players.

Glasner should have known that when he signed up. I feel like he complains about spending to protect his reputation. He must know that Parish will do all he can to keep him short of bankrupting the club or breaking the rules.

Anything on Sky should be taken with a pinch of salt. Usually some sound bite or hype.
They only care about Man U. I'm not sure why Man U have their own channel when Sky Sports News will clearly suffice. There is a Utd section every day. Despite them being pretty irrelevant right now.

Perhaps part of the conversation centred on the proposed shiny new stand, increasing capacity, with extra corporate facilities generating additional revenue for the club.

Maybe, but that was always going to be a couple of years away.
