Rachel Reeves

Properties above £2 million to pay extra (High Value Council Tax Surcharge), so that should help with local council spending, particularly if you live in an area where there are a fair number of these higher value properties. It will be good to know that the mansion at the end of your road will be helping to pay for your bins to be emptied...oh, hang on...the council tax surcharge will go to the Treasury not the local council...

3 pence is very reasonable.
It doesn't encourage people to buy electric cars does it? £3 extra per one hundred miles. Now, if you do say 9000 miles a year? £270 a year. I'm pretty sure people won't particularly welcome it. 10p when you go down the shops or 20p when you drive the kids to school will just be annoying.
This government is great at annoying people but not much else, unfortunately.

Walking is a lot greener. I think like Oscar Wilde 'tis better than being ignored.

A crazy idea for socialist Labour would have maybe been charging this extra tax on electricity providers' profits? Along with a mandatory freeze in prices? Maybe tax the water companies a tax on every dividend they give out? Too radical probably.
Yes, instead we'll charge all the green drivers a tax when they've been led into buying these vehicles. Proper Labour this. Is it just me who thinks this is crazy? Maybe they're trying to strengthen the Greens as the real left now.

Sensible budget
Tax working people to pay for people who don't work.

Great. That will fix the economy.

Labour being Labour. Tax and waste.
Trying to appear middle ground, while in reality, at the mercy of their left wing.

compared to what? If you do 10,000 miles that's an extra 300 per year
They will soon realise they can’t collect the miles done. They could do it via your MOT, only new cars don’t get an MOT for the first 3 years. People try not to charge cars on the street because of the higher VAT so charge at home and the black boxes they want in everyone’s cars monitoring us will take years.

Agreed

higher taxes on working people to fund those who don't
Same old problem of those who don’t deserve spoiling it for those who do. Nudging people into work is the better solution, but they are causing unemployment and a lack of recruitment. Good old Labour.

Nudging with "extreme prejudice" to quote Harrison F.

People voted for change and that's all they will have left after the tax hand in their pocket

The new laws around employment rights will create massive problems for young people looking for first job , combine that with Reeves' NI tax hike and it's looking really grim

When you mean "people who don't work" I guess you mean "children"

In case you've not noticed we have a debt problem, and you should understand bond markets and how interest rates on gilts fell yesterday in reaction to realise that, actually, this is about as good as it gets.

Btw I'm not a fan of the EV tax, but it has to come, and a lot of you punched the air you're so up the arse of the oil lobbyists
