Was it all worth it?

Bit of a long post, but hey ho. My old man went through WW2 in the Royal Navy got badly wounded off of Crete. He was living in privately rented accommodation, struggling. He couldn't turn on his central heating the radiators leaked. Where were the caring council and welfare? A land fit for heroes, don't make me laugh. Before he popped his clogs, I asked him if he would go through all that lot again, his reply " For what? " I served in the Army and became homeless in 2016, living out of my car, aged 69. My then local council in Oxted, Surrey, Tandridge council, told me to go to Shelter. I served in the 1st Battalion Queen's Royal Surrey Regiment, the county that Surrey recruited most of their squaddies from. I thought I was one of their own, I was wrong.

"14 years of Tory" rule excuses we hear from this disreputable Government. 😡
Everything I despise about the current situation in this country cannot be attributed to the Conservatives.

On that note, I shall now depart my abode with my good wife who has bellowed out to me in no uncertain terms to "SHUT UP...." recently when I have been vociferous on my 'Soapbox' continuing my tirade.

Yeah, things are much better now, thank you very much for asking. I had to move over 100 miles from my roots and Palace to find an affordable place. I now live in Naarich, ( Norwich ) bit of a culture shock, but now have a roof over me head, thank you.

All politicians in every Party have taken a once great country and put it in the gutter over 70 years of incompetence.
 
Nothings changed, people keep saying the country is finished and it’s a shithole now, my dad and grandad were constantly banging on about how shite the country was back in the 70’s when I was a kid, we’ve just got different variations of the same s*** now.

At least back then I suppose, you couldn’t have all your money stolen with one click of a keyboard, you could only got mugged on the street back then 🤣

All things are relative, but I doubt living through the war and post war rationing was much fun.
Everything brightened up in the '60s and '70s. Despite the economic issues, it was a great time to be a kid. Well, aside from being beaten up by teachers and s*** rented TVs.

No I wasn’t talking about the war years, just comparing the moaning now to the moaning when I was a kid.
That was one thing about when we were kids, at least we were actually scared of some of the teachers, we’d sod about, but teachers weren’t frightened to discipline us for fear of getting stabbed themselves, they were in charge and we knew it. A few times I went home and said to my dad Mr foster or palmer gave me a clip round the ear or round the back of the legs expecting a bit of back up, but he said ‘you probably deserved it, you can be a pain in the arse sometimes’ 🤣

In my memory teachers usually needed a reason to clout someone (apart from the psycho ones) whereas games teachers just lashed out in all directions. It was still the best lesson of the week though.

Probably something like 95% of our countries ills are down to Tory misrule, i'm tempted to draw up a very long list. I'm instantly a fan of your good wife.

95%? Lammy says it's at least 5000% more than that. If it's not at least half then he's an incompetent duffer.
