The Donald Trump thread

Where did hatred come into that? Hundreds of people are murdered every day in the USA including schoolchildren - mostly it goes unreported. I just find it strange that this seems OK to Americans who would rather that happened than consider any gun control. How can you take Trump seriously when he does something like calling off talks about trade agreement involving billions of dollars and thousands of jobs because he doesn't like a TV advert quoting a former president. The guy is a terrible business man, an ignorant politician, a pedophile, a liar and a dictator. The sooner he disappears by any means possible the better. I don't hate him - he doesn't raise that level of emotion within me.

Denying hatred while wishing for someones disappearance "by any means" speaks volumes.

Do you have any relatives living in Cornwall? To advocate the murder of anyone, whatever you think of them, on this forum is poor form. I hate what Labour are doing to the UK but have/would never advocate death/murder on any of them. Presumably you were ok with Charlie Kirk’s assassination?

I sense the TDS could be strong with this one.

Well, obviously I'm taking the p1ss.

You can go with all these modern takes on words but I'm not buying any of that.

It's Kiev and it's Turkey for me.

Same as it's Spain and Japan and not España and Nippon (日本).
Well I can go with that. The one drawback with living in North America is that you gradually lose your British sense of humour. No one understands sarcasm, irony, bathos etc so you stop using it and then fail to recognise it in others.. I'm slowly turning into Sheldon Cooper without the intelligence.

No I don't. I gather you are a Tory and therefore worshipped Thatcher. I was OK with Charlie Kirk's murder as he agreed that such things were inevitable and actually condoned such actions. Besides that he was a thoroughly nasty person and not worthy to be allowed in society.

Indeed, I'm probably the chief culprit of bathos on these boards......though no doubt our cousins over the pond mostly think that Bathos is someone's Greek cousin.

No he didn't.

That was leftist propaganda put out by the disingenuous to cope with the fact that the assassin was a full on alphabet progressive.

He didn't condone gun murders, he said that some were inevitable if people were to have the 2nd Amendment and own guns. In the same way that people accept car deaths rather than lose the ability to own cars.

It's meant to convey the rather distasteful message that he lived and died by the sword when the truth of the matter was that he supported guns only for defence....not the use of them for attacking the lawful.

Which is actually in line with the majority opinion in the US.

Probably not because to understand that would mean that they have to have a knowledge of things outside the USA, which they don't. Here in the civilised part of North America we are slowly disassociated ourselves of everything south of the border whilst offering sympathy and support for all our friends (non Trump supporting ones) there.

Sorry but I'm not wasting any more time on Charlie Kirk. He was a rich nobody spewing hatred and misinformation.

Sure, but this is a majority conservative board so you aren't really going to find a ton of TDS on here.....though there are a couple of resident fruitcakes who might find you a refreshing addition.

There is warranted criticism of any politician and I certainly have some for Trump, but it's from the right and not the left.

Well, you did kind of spread some about him so that's somewhat ironic.

I regard Charlie Kirk highly so you won't find any agreement on your characterisation from me.

Charlie Kirk was also mostly milk toast and actually reached out to speak to his political enemies and defend and promote conservatism on College campuses.

But some of them are pure evil and we saw the result.

With Barnsley in your name I would be glad to be in a different county let alone country. It does also mean an unpleasant man which you are, if I haven’t
misgendered you of course.
Tyke = a person from the English county of Yorkshire (not Barnsley). I moved and lived there with work for 22 years. I was born and lived in SE25 for 37 years - 3 years of those as a programme seller in the Arthur Waite (I was a contemporary of Sideo) and 18 years as a season ticket hoider. I am not at all unpleasant and unlike you modernist Brits am not obsessed with categorising people by race, gender, age, political affiliation, health, inside leg measurement and geographical location.

"A couple of years ago, Kirk made a comment about some gun deaths in the U.S. being "worth it" to ensure the continued existence of the second amendment to the U.S. constitution, which is the right to keep and bear arms.
"It's worth it to have a cost of, unfortunately, some gun deaths every single year, so that we can have the Second Amendment to protect our other God-given rights," he said during an April 5, 2023, appearance at the Salt Lake City campus of Awaken Church. "That is a prudent deal.""

Unfortunately he was a victim of his own words. It was a prudent deal.
