Palace v Bournemouth Matchday Thread

This is a poor performance not helped by small refereeing decisions not going our way. Their first goal was a clear foul on Sarr just before they scored.

Mateta misses a sitter and a half chance and the ball just seems to keep running Bournemouth’s way.

It’s not over yet but we need to get into them a bit more, maybe change Kamada for Hughes.

I was worried about this game after our second half performance against Everton and so far that worry has been well founded.

Eddie would do better v this lot I think. Pino HAS been in the game, total bollocks to claim he hasn't.

Their intense press and will to be first to every ball is the difference.

I think people were getting hyped about our run of unbeaten games.

However, when you looked at the games themselves many of them were tight hard fought affairs and not games of dominance. We deserved to be doing well but I think many had assumed we were looking at the top six.

I think we have a good chance of being our previous high total but it looks like we have been beaten today and I'm not surprised as a top ten side is probably a more realistic appraisal.

I don’t think he’s garbage but Hughes’s offers more and makes Wharton a better player in my view.

I think he is. Most of the time he ends up passing backward rather than an outlet, he won't go at them unless there is about 20 yards to his nearest player. He has misjudged several headers and tackles, their first attack and the corner came from him jumping under the ball to lose possession, and late in the game he managed to turn easy possession into a chance for them with an awful backpass to Guehi. One decent corner, one terrible free kick over everyone and out of play. It's like when he first started in the PL and wasn't up with the PL speed, and Bournemouth are up a level on intensity.

Look at the opposition. We've not played anyone rubbish except our bogey team, who aren't so crap anymore, and Notts Forest when they still had a decent manager. Even the newly promoted side was the decent one, and the ref stole a win from us vs Chelsea. It's been a tough start and we've done well. There are no easy games but there are easier games.

We may have had a few chances, but really Bournemouth have been in control.

Their pressing from the front means we are continually under pressure and can't develop any rhythm.

I would like to see Hughes introduced to try and exert more control and build moves.

We lack sharpness further forward, and I think Nketiah will come on.
