i reckon De Valera was just another nasty psychopath in high office. Churchill, hitler, Stalin, Franco, Mussolini, Lyndon Johnson, Blair ..........too many to choose from.



now........Immigration. Will America lose the English language to a hybrid of Spanish.....already witnessed in places like Miami ?

He was certainly power hungry. Why do you think he didn't go to the treaty talks? I'm going over to Cork this month for my annual trip and will try to visit Béal na Bláth where Michael Collins was shot under De Valera's orders.

There might well have been hyperbole from both sides, including accounts of the massacres at Drogheda and Wexford. Historians seem to be divided about the validity of testimony describing the events.

I don't suppose that either side could claim the moral high ground.
 
I read that some of the Bell Hotel protesters are starting to be sentenced. 2 years seems to be the average; look out for fines, warnings and suspended sentences dished out for supporting a terrorist organisation.

And we didn't even invade so much, we just recruited local disgruntled lords and barons to join our side. Divide and conquer gave us the empire, it wasn't about piling the troops in.

Correct. De Valera was the monster who betrayed the Republic. By selling his allegiance to the Catholic Church he made himself a de facto King. He got rid of the Brits and immediately ushered in another tyranny. A Catholic theocracy, Dev was another General Franco.

We didnt get free of his ideological shackles til 1995 with the money of the Celtic Tiger. Freedom for about 15 years and then onward to a Lib-Left EU Pharma-BigTech tyranny.

anyway......Immigration. What rubbish football teams would we have without immigration ? a bit like Dynamo Kiev

Other Countries.
Most 'normal' countries will restrict ALL Public Sector jobs for their own citizens. People capable of being totally fluent in that country's language. Certainly all the good administrator jobs are off the menu for immigrants.

However, we saw with all the Human Rights abuses from the last World Cup......there is still a pattern of using immigrants for crappy jobs that nobody else wants to do. We get that in the Oil Rich States of the Middle East. They often deliberately recruit Phillipino women past childbirth age, on a limited visa of 5 or 10 years ( and/or bachelor men who will never reproduce in the Host country).......however such countries seem very reluctant to take Palestinian refugees.
Thus the 'insert name of nation' people remain the overwhelming majority in their respective nation.

Compare & Contrast to the madness in The West.

The girl was apparently just 6 years old when the abuse started. I sincerely hope the scum are found out and 'dealt with' when they're put away.
