Top of the league

If results go our way tomorrow we could be top of the league.. can’t believe in all my 60 years of following Palace I am saying this .. what a great time for us Palace supporters!!!!!
Well if your memory was a bit better you would have been saying the same at the end of 1979 after we had beaten Ipswich Town 4-1 to go top of the table .

Unfortunately that game wasn't televised as we scored a couple of crackers that day including a fine team goal started and finished by Sir Jim Cannon .

But our time has come around again , this time with more stable foundations and though we may not reach the giddy heights of the 'team of the eighties ' the teams achievements have already surpassed them ,a great time to be Palace for sure .

Need:

Spurs to not win v Leeds
Arsenal to not win v West Ham
Liverpool to lose to Chelsea
Us to beat Everton. Let's be the first team to win a league game at their new place.

I am not allowing my emotions to run amok in a sea of expectancy and dreamland !
We have been experiencing great 'Highs' in recent months and riding the crest of a wave but of course I am mindful that we could well encounter pitchy seas.
There will be some deflation should we succumb to defeat at Everton.
Aporos our position in the table I recall the words of Bill Shankly "Never look at the League Table before November".

That was all the more special because we were in the 3rd division a couple of years before. In a short space of time I went from seeing us playing Mansfield and Hereford to playing the European champions Forest and Liverpool at selhurst

Well that didn't last then.

And of course as 20 year olds (well I was ) we really did believe we were " By far the Greatest team the World has ever seen"

Now in our late 60's we know just to enjoy the ride and hope it lasts past May and not Christmas 😉

Mid-teens and now early 60’s for me….you old bugger Doggy 👴🏻🤣

But you’re right, we know to enjoy it while it lasts because the wheels can easily fall off 👍

I agree wholeheartedly, I'm happy with another 28 points! 😆

If we continued our current form, we might just scrape the Conference placing. We have to be more clinical to go further.

Our best chance of Europe is winning the Conference, so maximum effort should go to that.
