Humble pie over Parish anyone?

Our squad is not paper thin at all. The only position we dont have a back up is right full back. If Munoz got injured we would struggle but we still have a couple of players that can fill in there. Plus with Riad due back in approx a month (according to OG) we'll even have both him AND Canvot that can fill in in the centre.
How many players would you like us to have for every position?

As you mention Munoz, but also Mateta, Wharton and Lacriox, the spine of the team. I also think the 2 No10s are difficult to replace.

Yes we can play alternatives but they are not not good enough. Eddie N is a very different player, if either No 10 doesn't play i assume it will be Kamada and he has proved he is not a No 10 in our formation (happy to have him as a CM though).

Although we have cover in CM no one can move a ball like Adam. Hughes and Lerma have no creativity.

Riad is coming back from an ACL and let's face it will take months to get back up to speed (remember Eze after his Achilles - maybe 6 months). The 2 new guys Canvot and Uche look great prospects but are young and are in a new country. Both will take time.

Clearly we can't afford it but Notts Forest made 3 subs after about 60 minutes against us - they cost c£100m. That is what a strong bench/squad looks like - we don't have it.

We need the core of the team to stay fit and healthy as we have a very good first X1 but a weak squad.

I wouldn't disagree with any of that but in the last window we took a few steps towards building a better squad, Uche and Canvot might make the grade, i'm not a good enought judge of a footballer to say on their scant match time either way.

Early days time tells all,the end of season will lend perspective, with a new manager ,several new players it might take a little time to gel.

Newsflash pal, Only the top 6 clubs have 2 to 3 players for each position. For a club of our size and stature we have the best and strongest squad we have ever had. If you cant see that there is only one person suffering from delusion and it aint me.

I think the Forest example is a good one. If we had £100m to spend we’d have a stronger bench on paper, no doubt, but as you say, we don’t.

I’d rather Parish be in charge and this squad than a £100m bench and Maranakis though. Given the (lack of) money we have we’ve generally spent well to add depth where we can. Vitally I think the bench, like the starting XI, have a team spirit which Forest aren’t getting any time soon with a new manager and expensive players he inherited.

No team on the planet has like-for-like replacements for their best players.

City dont have a Haaland replacement, Liverpool dont have a VVD replacement, etc etc.

Take the best CB, CM and CF out of any team in the world and they will struggle....what are you expecting another Adam Wharton quality player on the bench?

Fair. Sarr is no Olise replacement but he’s pretty damn effective.
