Crystal Palace vs. Liverpool match thread

Never heard such praise before of a Palace team on MoTD…. feels like I must have moved into an alternate universe!
The people on MOTD take after Trump - they only like winners, even if it's only for the day. If we give them the chance, they'll quickly be back to their curmudgeonly ways.

What a performance. Glasner is a genius. The perfect match. So much improvement in so many players including Richards,Mitchell, Mateta, Sarr, LeCroix and even the much maligned Kamada who was excellent again. Pressing was extraordinary and relentless. We are one of the best 6 teams in England and have been for a few months now. This team is up there with The team of the 80's and Stevie Coppells best with Bright and Wright. I am going to relax and enjoy the moment. Can't wait for the Everton trip .

I would also add Pino Henderson Guehi Wharton Devenny. The list is long. Glasner sprinkles stardust on all of them. Furthermore they all seem to positively respond to his methods. Glasner and his coaches are very special

Enjoyed MOTD this morning we finally got justice from the programme. Even Slott said we should have been well ahead at half time.

I particularly enjoyed the comments about their defence being awful. If I was Real Madrid I would be thinking sod Konate let's get Guehi instead.

I think the more sensible Liverpool fans will be raging why did we muck Palace about and leave it so late with our bid.

Well done the lads a truly great performance. This team deserves to break our unbeaten run record so let's hope they do it this week.

COYP
Pretty much an oxymoron. All I've heard is how we are greedy, destroyed Guehi's lifetime dream etc.

I said before the Liverpool game and have not changed my mind, the only time (90-92, particularly when Ian Wright was still with us) I felt going into every single game regardless of the opposition that we were capable of winning and we were feared.
I feel the same right now if not an even stronger feeling that we currently belong in 2nd place and deserve all the plaudits. Nobody wants to play Crystal Palace right now. Glasner's mentality is similar to Arsene Wenger's. I remember when their unbeaten run came to an end Wenger said he didn't care. That all that mattered was how his team responded to that defeat and then to go on another run.
Glasner has such an amazing attitude. We fans can enjoy being unbeaten, he only cares about winning the game in front of him and the performance. He is so good at keeping the whole squad focussed on the same goal. And it's because of that attitude that we can go into every game with confidence and belief.
My God if we can stay reasonably injury free and keep our squad and manager together this season after yesterday you have got to believe more success is on the way.

We had loads of chances that we didn't take and had to scrape a win in time over overtime. Liverpool also missed some chances, didn't play that well, and both goalies made good saves. We shouldn't get ahead of ourselves with this. We're still struggling to convert very clear chances. There's areas for improvement.
Where we should be confident is that we think Ollie will notice where we need to improve and we know the team has great organisation, great fitness and great work rate. That makes a pleasant change for us.

Fully agree with that. That fits as good as "Erdäpfelsalat" to a "Schnitzel". But in that moment, gaining 3 "dirty" points in a way like this game against Leave-da-pool, that possibly could be a main factor for heart-strokes, I am fine with that.

My crystal ball(ace) says, that this COULD be the beginning of a very, very enjoyable season. Could in capitals, because we, and that is for sure, I think, know how football can go.

(Off topic: now that I am the very first time in a board where I have to post/write in the English language: what is it really in English? Soccer or football? Please tell me. And don't tell me, what the US American term is. I love to learn, as I am willing and ought to respect the language of every country. My kind and favorised way to show respect)

"Ugly" points in a "hard fought win" where we "snatched a late winner" in a "football" match.

I have had a day to think about it and I think that was the best ever game I have been to at selhurst.

I don't know there was just some magic in air leading up to the game and I was excited all week about the game.

Flew into stanstead the day before and it was a nightmare getting through London on Friday back down to South London. But totally worth it. 😁 (Think I'll stick to Gatwick in the future)

I'd meant to give you a shout. I went Shannon to Gatwick and back. Got home a couple of hours ago.
Now I'm back to spamming the forum.

The Americans say 'football' when they mean 'grid iron' and 'soccer' when they mean 'Fußball' as they say in österreich. If you vont to sound like a real Englunder den du canst say 'footy'. And off topic what do you prefer on your schnitzels, a squeeze of lemon juice or eine dollop off der cranberry sauce like our illustrious leader Herr Glasner? I hope you don't mind my Germanification of English, I think it adds to the conversation.

Also off topic and sorry to get in, but I have to add, that the squeeze of lemon juice is an old tradition which dates back to former times, when the lemon juice was used to cover the taste of cheap and foul-smelling meat. Nowadays you - hopefully - don't get foul-smelling meat in your Schnitzel but the tradition to put lemon on your Schnitzel remained.
