Claudia Cardinale

A great beauty and a great actress.

RIP

She is one of many European actresses who are underrated (US/UK) because their Hollywood movies aren't great, which is the fault of Hollywood.

Sophie Loren and Penelope Cruz are another 2 if you bother to watch their European movies they are great actresses but their Hollywood careers are meh.

Something you've studied Badger?

For me, Once upon a time in the west, best western, she was brilliant in all roles

She was a fine and attractive actress who always seemed to be competing with Sophia Loren.

I remember seeing 8.5 when I was 16 at the little Curzon cinema in South Croydon (is it still there?). I didn't really 'get it' at the time, but it was considered to be a very arty thing to do.

RIP

You're going off topic here a bit but...

Charles Laughton. If he was ever in a bad movie I'd like to know.

Back to Claudia - could act and was absolutely gorgeous.
She was. The Legend of Frenchie King was a poor film but it had her and Brigitte Bardot as compensation.

Nigel Patrick was great. The League of Gentlemen and Sapphire are two of his best.
"yes, old darlin", and in The Browning Version when he was shagging Jean Kent behind
Michael Redgrave's front. Interesting to hear about the European port folio of these glam euro stars - no train jokes thank you.

I love films by Powell and Pressburger, David Lean and Hitchcock. One of my favourite actors is Nigel Patrick. Orson Welles is very good to.Both very actorly.
Remaining off topic Nigel Patrick is also one of my favourite actors, although first discovering his talents in League of Gentlemen I thought he was superb as DCI Johnnoe in the Informers and also great performances in Grand National Night and Forbidden Cargo.......

RIP Claudia..

Had a serious crush on her as a very young kid. There was a picture of her in the Radio Times. She was the love interest in a film about a cargo pilots adventure. Can't remember the name of the film but I was fixated with that picture.

She was the first woman I decided to marry. She made Sophia Loren look goofy.

Never did get to marry her. Guess I missed my chance now..

RIP...

That could've been The Hell with Heroes. Pete Duel from Alias Smith and Jones was in it.

She was from that time when women had a bit of cleavage and weren't afraid to show it; let's face it, we all love that. The skinny prudes now do nothing for me. Even if they do theoretically like men - which wouldn't be likely in more ways than one.

That was it, yes. Thank you. I remember trying to find the name of the film a few years back but had since forgot it again..I may have to give that a watch over the weekend. I will search for a stream...

Pete Dual I think was the best mate and co pilot of the main character and gets shot . I remember being really shocked..

Alias Smith and Jones. Brilliant show. Loved it..
