After the poor start to last season, I said that Glasner’s one dimensional style would not work, and I suggested that he wasn’t going to be the manager we needed, I was wrong, the very thing about not changing from his style has IMO, become his strength, yes, I think we may see some drab 0-0 results against the lesser teams, but any team that attack us, risk the thought of being ripped to pieces on the break, I think we will see Glasner at Palace for a few more years, for me it’s the perfect match.

Let's hope he sees it that way and agrees a new contract. His wife might have something to say about it given his recent comments.

It’ll be interesting to see how he adapts this season as teams figure us out. He’s a smart coach so I expect him to find a plan B that works within his system. Pino and Uche give me hope that we can try something different when teams sit back and Mateta is struggling to find space. If he can work out how to fit Esse into his system that would help.
If I have a criticism of Glasner it’s maybe that he’s a little too risk averse. We won’t concede many goals if our defence stays fit and can afford to be a bit more adventurous at times.
I agree he’s a perfect fit for Palace and am more optimistic that he will sign a new contract and stay with us for a while longer.

The clue to why Esse doesn't play is in Glasner's comments on the Guehi saga.

He said he told Parish that it was a big risk to replace a player with vast minutes at Premier League level in Guehi with a novice in minutes at top level in Canvot.
Similarly, I'm sure he has reservations about Esse being able to replace Eze at this stage.

For me this doesn't equate to Glasner being risk averse, it's more a question of minimising unnecessary risks.
About team coming first above individuals.
It was evident that yesterday Pino is a terrier, constantly seeking to hassle and win the ball back as well as having a constructive side.
It's likely that Glasner has not seen sufficient evidence from Esse of a team first mentality yet, just as he did not with JRS.

I re-iterate what I have stated before - I enquired about Esse from a Millwall supporter of many years and a gentleman who is exceedingly knowledgeable about tactics and players.
He stated that Esse was probably the best player Millwall had produced but is one for the future.I concluded that he was inferring that he was not 'Oven ready' for the rigours of the PL at this juncture.

It will be telling though if Glasner doesn't even trust Esse to feature against Millwall i.e at the level which first brought him to the club's attention, and also taking into account the absence of Sarr

If that’s the case he should have gone on loan surely. The only argument for keeping him is that Glasner thinks he can learn more about playing in this team by being with the squad and training with them.

I don't disagree, but I think that Franca and JRS going on loan put pay to any chance of Esse going as well.
What is clear is that even with Sarr's injury , and a lack of available options, Glasner has preferred to use out of position players (Devenny, Kamada) instead.

Maybe, but there was never any suggestion of him going out on loan unlike JRS who only went after the window closed. I think and hope he’s in the squad because Glasner has a plan for him this season.

If we manage to hold onto Glasner until the end of the season we will have done very well.

I just hope Parish & Co are already giving some thought as to who is next…but I doubt it.

I think Glasner can expect a call from Manchester United in the morning
He would last 15 games at Man Utd, and he knows it
