I think she also needs a job with a private car because she’s going to get a lot of public grief, whispers and p1ss taking when she’s out and about. She needs to be careful though she's got some big bills to settle
Disagree. People sitting on savings shouldn’t be claiming any benefits apart from state pension. Whether that should be £16,000 I don’t know. I bet it hasn’t been increased for a while to add to the squeezing techniques.Yes some aspects of their lifestyle.
It may surprise you that I have no problem with their generous welfare system. The reason being is it is not means tested so if a banker is made redundant he gets benefits unlike here where they tax you but then tell you sorry you don't qualify. I'm surprised that labour haven't picked up on that.
Northing worse than paying high rate tax for most of your working life and then when you are unemployed told you get diddly squat.
So those that work very hard and manage to scrape by and save a few pennies towards their future should be punished for doing so.Disagree. Looking at the costs associated with care homes for the elderly it's no bad thing that they've got one money behind them.So those that work very hard and manage to scrape by and save a few pennies towards their future should be punished for doing so.
They aren’t being ‘punished’ as you put it. Words are important. They do not need support because they don’t need it. That is the point of welfare. A safety net (although the career spongers have abused that) If you have a load of savings then you don’t need support and a safety net. I could go into what they could do to soften the blow but that’s not needed really. So those that work very hard and manage to scrape by and save a few pennies towards their future should be punished for doing so.
If your waster of a neighbour gets generous help if unemployed and you have a small nest egg is it right that the state ignores you.Yes I am well aware of the French system, I am by ancestry a french immigrant. They aren’t being ‘punished’ as you put it. Plus Norway has large oil revenues. You may or may not know but France has very generous salary matching unemployment benefit. Look at the level of debt they are in.
I stand by what I said. Spongers that need to be dealt with doesn’t mean those that don’t need unemployment benefit should be receiving them. There are millions of economically inactive people in Britain who you’d be effectively adding to the welfare bill. Hmm. Not a good idea. May as well go to the IMF early and now.If your waster of a neighbour gets generous help if unemployed and you have a small nest egg is it right that the state ignores you.Yes I am well aware of the French system, I am by ancestry a french immigrant.
Earlier you mentioned the state pension should be paid not to pay would be difficult as people have paid in in order to receive it.I stand by what I said. True. If they’ve paid NI for 35 years isn’t it? Or been in receipt of benefits including child support.Earlier you mentioned the state pension should be paid not to pay would be difficult as people have paid in in order to receive it.
It's 35 years but it has to be a straight 35 years to get the full amount. I paid NI for 36 years with a 4 year gap after the first 4 so get less (I was working abroad not otherwise detained).True. If they’ve paid NI for 35 years isn’t it? Or been in receipt of benefits including child support.
I wonder the circumstances where they haven’t.
35 years you get full whack and less years pro rata i believe.True. If they’ve paid NI for 35 years isn’t it? Or been in receipt of benefits including child support.

I ended up paying well over 40 years worth, due to an anomaly between 1972 and 1976 when employed by CS35 years you get full whack and less years pro rata i believe.
Are you sure? It's 35 years but it has to be a straight 35 years to get the full amount. I paid NI for 36 years with a 4 year gap after the first 4 so get less (I was working abroad not otherwise detained).
That's what they told me anyway. Are you sure?
I think it’s 35 years over your employment term up to retirement. I’ve done 37 so far and if I retire at 67 it will be 45 years NI payments. Well fair !That's what they told me anyway.
The relevance of this being what? , other than you share something with Mr Nigel Farage. If your waster of a neighbour gets generous help if unemployed and you have a small nest egg is it right that the state ignores you.Yes I am well aware of the French system, I am by ancestry a french immigrant.
