Should OG walk

You would think that OG is experienced enough to understand the way things are at a club like Palace. He knows our good players will be sought after in every window and we can't buy in £100 m replacements. Even if we could we wouldn't. Neither he nor we, and I daresay Steve Parish, will like the situation but that's what it is. If Guehi stays and, God forbid, gets a bad injury we'd be pretty much the same position.
It's not a fair game when top club managers can maintain their position by spending hundreds of millions but what can we do? Players will only join us with release clauses to get a shot at the big bucks and there's nothing we can do about it.
All we can do is try to enjoy the ride which has been easy over the last couple of years.

If the rumours are true and Glasner threatened to leave if Marc was sold, it says a hell of a lot to just how important our captain is to the team.

The gaffer must believe MG to be absolutely essential to the system and the squad. Which begs the question of whether we even looked at another player who could possibly fill those boots.

I don't think anyone argues that, the problem most people have is that surely Parish knew this was going to happen for a long time now and has done absolutely nothing about it. Now we have a world class defender who will leave for peanuts in Jan or nothing at the end of the season and at the same time he's proved to our best ever manager that he cant be trusted when it comes to transfers. Its utterly amateurish.

Did you want him to stay? I get the handling and the way he’s staying but you can’t have people saying he’s got to stay and then after saying ‘we’ve now missed out on £28 mil’.

The amount of money we may miss out is not as binary as just a transfer fee. With Guehi staying and Glasner, Palace could have another strong season and maybe Europe again. With Guehi we would have been much weaker

All that is supposition, maybe it was like, Smoke and Mirrors

No, I wanted him to be sold and us have a replacement lined up for him. He's the best cb we've had in my lifetime and I love him like everyone else but if you know for that long that he isn't going to sign a new contract then you absolutely must have a plan in place. I'm not saying it would be easy to find someone as good as him but considering how long they've had to try and get one its quite unbelievable how the day has turned out.

B******S

There was also plenty of time for Glasner to identify a replacement and push to get him signed. You can’t just blame the chairman because for all we know SP could have spent all this time trying to persuade MG to sign a new deal. We accept the situation and move on.

Just for a second, can we play out the scenario that Glasner did give Parish an ultimatum about quitting?

Who the f*** would leak the contents of that chat?

It's a 1 on 1 conversation. It is absolutely not in Parish's interest to leak it - he looks backed into a corner. It's also entirely against the character of OG to leak it, and doesn't serve him any benefit to leak it as he's got his way. As if he's just walked out of there and got straight on the phone and gone 'guess what I just said before I got my way'.

As OG said about Eze not playing at Chelsea, don't believe everything you read.

In this case, it's blindingly obvious that absolutely no-one is 'in the know'.

Apparently Talksport along with all the media outlets know absolute sh1t all.

IF there was a crunch meeting with Glasner and Parish where that was said, who out of them told Talksport.

Its all lies upon lies upon lies

It's that fecking fly again.

Can't keep its damn mouth shut.

Why is it so difficult to believe?
Glasner has given interview after interview in recent weeks calling out broken promises frkm.the club.
This culminated in the two most recent interviews when he went on record that Guehi should not and cannot be sold.
It seemed today that Parish was going to go against Glasner's wishes and sell Guehi anyway.

Glasner is a serious professional and if his professional advice is continually undermined and ignored I could genuinely see him thinking 'what's the point?'

Ultimately it's not about Glasner v Parish, it's about what's best for the club.
In simple terms we're likely to have a better season with Guehi as captain and key defensive perforner rather than without him.

Whatever the truth of today's events, I can't believe it's done Glasner and Parish' relationship much good.

He said after winning the cup that we needed to strengthen and strengthen early, yet here we are again doing all our business in the last 72 hours of the window and scrambling around to keep our most important player.

It's a shambles really, yet if we sign Uche we've somehow had a decent window. It's all too much.

Zaha, then Olise, then Eze, now Guehi......

surely in summer 2026 it will be another one or two Diamond players gone.

Is Parish aiming for us to finish fourth from bottom, every year ? if so, we need a relegation dogfight specialist like Big Sam Allardyce....oh, hang on, he left us too.

Looks like our successful time under Glasner has been a blip......... with normal service to be resumed with a new 'emergency' stand-in. Some journeyman manager and a journeyman squad.
