Marc Guéhi

Palace have loads of time to sort the situation. There are more than 6 hours left on the transfer clock, and Palace have an allowance to either get a carthorse, or some unproven young stallion. My money would be on getting emerging talent in, as the wages would be cheaper and there would be potentially more profit for any sell-on in the future.
So something young and inexperienced is my bet. And cheap 😀

The window closes at 7pm this year - so one hour 40 minutes for the rabbit and hat thing to be done

Though Palace usually announce many many hours after the deadline has passed

Sky saying that he will still be allowed to join Liverpool and we're scrambling for replacements. This is an absolute clusterfuck. How have we allowed this situation to develop. Our reluctance to do business early, just for the sake of penny-pinching, is potentially going to ruin our season.
Sky are guessing.

I know its almost impossible to replace Guehi, but just remember, when Anderson went to Fulham a lot of people were saying Lacroix wouldn't be a good replacement for him, me included to an extent, just look at Maxence now, he is twice the player Anderson is/was.

Sarr is not the player Olise is, but he sure stepped up, lets hope Pino steps up also and any replacement for Guehi.

Trying to be glass half full here, but lets see.

What an absolute shambles.
Following the farcical pursuit of a place in Europa and the time spent on its pursuit when we had clearly not met the requirements, (ignoring the fact we were completely understaffed on the player front), followed by our inability to make a start on the 'new' stand despite the time spent renewing planning, here we are in the last 90 minutes of the transfer window in a complete and total panic.
Classic case of juggling way too many balls with far too small a management team.
Wherever this ends up, our board really needs to take a very close look at where our weaknesses lie and find some solutions moving forwards.
Sadly, I would imagine this has had a serious impact on relations between our superb team playing management and our business management. Our team management has excelled since Glasner and his men took up the reins. Our business management appear to have come up short.
And then there is the whole Textor issue. But that is for another day.

But we have less than 90 minutes to find and secure one. Hardly the best way to recruit.

If OG leaves because we sold MG then so what. If MG got injured mid season what would he do, leave?
OG has to realise he’s the manager and gets paid to do a job. Toys out of the pram time. I know he’s a great manager but like players they come and go.
Use the players you have to do the best you can. Didn’t miss eze yesterday while battering villa so probably shouldnt miss MG tbh.
Tin hat firmly on 😂
Lack of ambition & planning
Not building on our success
Just making do with 2nd best
Accepting we are just a feeder club fighting over scraps that everyone else has left on the shelf
Glasner has performed a miracle in what he's done
& deserves full support, not being side swiped by the egotistical tent peg (Parish)

Trust the people who took us to 2 Wembley trophies.

Parish has invested massive amounts of cash and time into a club he loves. We couldn’t have a more caring and involved Chairman.

Trust the guys who supported us getting Eze, Guehi, Olise, Lecroix, Henderson, Munoz and Glasner.

Unless you want to buy the chairman out with your own funds judge the window and performance on the pitch.

We are lucky to have Steve.

  1. We did some early business and tried to get Diamonde early but he ended up outside of our budget for a Guehi replacement - namely what we could expect to get for Guehi himself
  2. It's hardly penny-pinching if all you have to spend is what you can get for player sales. Furthermore, it's your so-called penny-pinching that has kept us in the PL all these years, namely not overpaying for players (most of the time) unlike a number of PL clubs one could mention.
  3. despite all the income we receive from the PL and TV etc., the club is still run at a loss. We pay as much as we dare to attract and keep the increasingly better players we are able to attract.
For a club like ours, staying in the PL for any length of time is a major success.

Steve Parish is the best chairman we have ever had by a country mile. How many minutes have you been a fan?

SP has to pull the plug on the Guehi deal now?!

There doesn't seem to any alternative after the predicted WH hijack?!

Surely even the staunchest Parishners can't defend him if he sanctions this?!

Talksport saying their Palace sources are more confident than Liverpool sources Guehi deal goes through.

Don’t read this as palace sources pleased it’s going through. Just the sources think it is going through. So who fecking knows.

Remember the days when the only Palace player subject to any speculation was Wilf?

Whilst disappointing, I think I can see what Parish is doing...

... if you're an exceptional young player, come to Palace to 4 years and then you'll be ready for a top Champions League club (and/or Arsenal, but not Tottenham).

The talent that we've had the privilege to watch over the last few years has really been something else.

Obviously our quota of South London players is going down, but hopefully we can fix that up too...

I don't think there's a right answer with Marc sell/keep decision... wouldn't be surprised if it only gets reported late this eve...

The business model is to have a turnround of players for a profit, Parish said as much when he opened the Academy. I guess this includes players picked up relatively cheaply, like Olise, Eze, and now Guehi. I can fully understand, it's how a club with the finances and size of Palace will survive and hopefully thrive.
That said, it makes no sense to sell your best players and not have ready replacements waiting in the wings. The manager has to work with something.

Lots of reports the deal is done to Liverpool but it's on hold until we get replacement.

I wonder if they tried saying to Liverpool you can have him without addons but you loan him back for this season this is what we did with Wilf.

Every year the Palace department which handles these feels even more amateur or SP is a control freak which is what the issue is too much micromanaging.

The business model he said is like the Chelsea model but we are not even able to do that because we are not bring through players we keep buying.

Guehi wasn't cheap we are making very little of him and the team getting him is getting him for a bargain price.

This model wont get top managers and the future can not be so bright when OG leaves because who will be willing to put up with this every year.

We need to move beyond this want to stay in the league every year.
