Marc Guéhi

if as is being reported Guehi asked for Palace to allow him to join Liverpool after yesterday's match I don't see how Palace had any real option but to sell him assuming the terms on offer from Liverpool accord with Palace's valuation

They're paying 35 million which is what Liverpool have always been prepared to pay, this could have been sorted weeks ago, instead Parish rejected their bid, because he valued him at 40 mill, to then publicly announce a couple days later, we couldn't afford to let him leave for free. I bet Liverpool started laughing. Now we're scrambling around on deadline day getting whoever is available.

It might be Parish’s fault handling the timing of Guehi going and the replacement. But why is it Parish’s fault and not the other owners if it shows there’s a lack of ambition? Btw, we don’t know who we’re going to sign yet. He might fit in well. We did better with Sarr than Olise, Pino looks good too. Let’s see hey?
Sarr is incredible now.
But at the start of last season, whenever he was brought in he looked like a lost school boy, not knowing what he was meant to be doing.

This is OGs main bugbear, as it takes time for players to adapt to his system and level of fitness.
Now we're 3 weeks into the season and short a Wharton, anyone brought in will take a good month to get up to speed.

Talksport now speculating that because the Brighton lad deal isn’t happening and we can’t get Gomez off Liverpool, will the deal happen with us.

This is just talk sport raising the possibility btw. No rumours.

Guehi is evidently now definitely jumping ship to Liverpool FC given wave of reliable media sources :View attachment 1905
He hasn't gone yet, yes we have agreed money, he needs a medical to check Liverpool are happy to procede, if we don't get who we want, i doubt he will go, you have to set up both deals before one can proceed

Parish said in his interview after the Community Shield, there was a lot of interest from Newcastle last year "but the player wasn't keen" (I'm paraphrasing). So if Guehi had pushed for it, the deal would have happened last summer.

But who want to live in Newcastle?
Players never live IN Manchester, Anfield, Tottenham, Finsbury Park etc, but Newcastle is a long way from home and family in London, and cold.

Wow. Slagging off the most successful chairman of our history.

Have you thought for a second that Glasner doesn't want to stay beyond his 2 year contract?
He's never managed a club for longer than 2 years before. Then he leaves and waits for the next big job to roll through the door.

In my opinion, for what it's worth, Glasner is doing exactly the same as Marc Guehi.
I'm pretty sure he's told the board he will not be extending his contract, which is exactly the reason they are not backing him this window.

They will save their money to invest with a new manager next summer.

To me, that is a very wise decision.

No manager is staying at a club like palace if a bigger club comes in, its like saying let's not buy that player because if he's good, he's just gonna go to a bigger club anyway.

You back the manager, if you're not prepared to back the manager, then you replace him, that's the whole point of employing someone in that position, otherwise the chairman might aswell just manage the team.

Hope you’re right , Hard to see Palace finding an equal to Guehi this late in the day .
Whole saga has been a disaster and possibly driven a wedge between Glasner and Parish ..

Fair point. We are used to it and OG won’t stand for it another season. It can be argued OG will leave anyway end of the season and I reckon he probably will because he’ll have plenty of interest.

SSN now reporting there's another speedbump for us/Glasner but of course they went to a break before revealing what it is, like a f***ing Eastenders duff duff.

Probably all our deals have fallen through after Guehi has passed his medical

Wow, so many assumptions being made on here when all we have done is sell a player for £35m when he was going to leave for nothing in 8 months time.

I’m not pleased he’s gone but I am glad we’ve done the right thing financially. Glasner can say what he wants but he knows that Parish was always going to cash in rather than give him away.

If Glasner walks out because of this he is no better than Isak or Wisse when it comes to contracts.

We can kiss Glasner goodbye now as well then.
Parish you are one prize c*** for doing this to our manager you spineless gobshite.
You've had your go with your three stooges so now please feel free to f*** off and take them with you.
I for one am not going to spend the rest of my days bowing to you for saving the club with your mates who by the way , did the right thing and buggered off when they knew their time was up, unlike you.
I hope you're pleased with crapping all over the best coach in our history!

🤡

There is a ceiling on Parish’s ambitions and today is the evidence. The manager needed his support and was told in virtually every recent interview “we mustn’t sell Guehi” clearly that fell on deaf ears.
If I was OG I would feel very let down and I believe that the reason we did not buy a replacement once the window opened was that we simply didn’t have the money much like ‘the stand’ that shows no sign of being built.
Lack of planning and money, quite happy with 12th and the last thing he wants is an overly ambitious manager.
Pathetic Mr Parish.

I don't think it's the same as Wright leaving. Mateta has an infectious attitude and I reckon Lacroix and Munoz can grow into leaders. We do need a decent replacement, however. I would think Lerma will start in the back three in our next game - when you consider Glasner's methods. Presuming it is Glasner.
