Seeing that Guehi is off I think the best option would be Lacriox, possibly Henderson but think the captain should be an outfield player. Can't really think of anyone else who would fit the bill

Alternative would be Hughes. As not guaranteed starter probably rules him out

Never really agreed with that comparison, GT was a bit more box to box and tougher in the tackle. Doubt Wharton will get the goals GT did either.

Totally agree but think he is a bit too young at the moment, but saying that look at Reece James. He was Wigan's captain at the age of 18.

Wharton's influence is in his playing intelligence, he's not ready to be a leader...yet, a few years maybe. plus if everything is true and he's due to leave next year I wouldn't have him as captain only for him to leave. Should he sign and extension though.....

It'd be Hughes, if he was guaranteed to start every week. So it falls Lacroix for me - with Henderson as deputy.

Was it 26? Definitely then, much as Wharton is a good player, I think it’s clear he could be with us 10 years and not get anywhere near that many, goalscoring is very low on his list of qualities

It's always surprising that someone who can pass accurately doesn't score more, or indeed any. Maybe they should follow the Jimmy Greaves style and pass the ball into the net. It worked well enough for him.

Which is a ridiculous statement in itself - that he's not a guaranteed starter.
POTY last year and has started in that same fashion.
