Yeremy Pino

This guy looks good, but he won't be the answer to our season alone at the price we are paying.
He is being sold for a reason.

If Parish just replaces the players we have sold with inferior ones, then we are in trouble. Even if they turn out to be good replacements, we also need numbers as well as quality.

We have lost Ward, Franca, Eze and maybe Guehi and have Doucoure and Riad out long term. We also have Nketiah out for another month or so.

Currently, there is also no cover for Munoz.

Signing one or two players is not enough for a team in Europe.

I agree we need more squad depth but this is quite an exciting signing if it happens. I take the point he’s being sold for a reason but then again how many of us thought Sarr would be a good option in place of Olise? I know I didn’t but I was wrong.

He's played through Spain's national system up to senior level so he must be doing something right.

On the verge of signing a 22year old who already has 15 caps for Spain.

Why are you working on the premise that he's inferior?

At 22, Eze hadn't even played in the prem, this guy has played 130 odd games in in La Liga, 28 games in Europe, and a full international.

Well we got a record points haul and won two trophies with the following

Ward didn't featured much last season, career end
Franca, Dacoure and Riad didn't feature last season because of injury
Nketiah played a few games as understudy to JP

So that's Eze and Guehi, and we know we can replace Guehi and make money, Eze is the only one we can't be sure of but Pino looks a real straight swap of quality.

This time next week we'll be stronger and better off.

We do still need squad cover especially at CB even if Guehi stays. Riad won’t be seen anytime soon and you have to worry about him long term given the injury record.

Agree we need numbers as well as quality, even if most of your list didn’t play or played just a little last season. But there’s cover needed so we must buy.

So Pino is being sold for a reason. What’s the reason? Eze was sold for a reason too…

We weren't playing Sunday Thursday last season. The squad is thin. That is obvious.

Because he wanted to leave.

I suspect Pino is going because he is surplus. That doesn't mean he isn't good, but he ain't Iniesta.

He has just under 2 years left of his contract and probably asked to leave - we will no doubt be doubling his salary.

Villarreal will have realised if he wasn't sold in this window they would get a lot less in the next one.

Once a player asks to leave it is difficult to keep them happy.

Surely a win win all around.

Does look a little lightweight for the prem, but he has a decent track record in a good league
