I hope you all enjoyed your stay..talked to 2 lads in Maldron. They explored Pubs like the Celt ,and confession box ..had a great time .
Anyway from an Irish eagle who was made very welcome in England.. I hope you enjoyed your stay!
I'd never been to Dublin before but I must say I really enjoyed the welcoming nature of our hosts.
Arrived Wed afternoon and had a couple of rums (larger measures in Eire, I notice) in Grogan's. I loved the general conviviality all round. A great feel, also, nurtured by the many, many proper pubs of which there are fewer and fewer in the UK.
Thursday I watched the world go by while sitting under the angel with dog on O'Connell's monument. Then on to the GPO and museum where I learned that the Nelson Monument nearby had been blown up in 1966 on the 50th anniversary of the Easter Rising. I never knew that. 'The Spire' now sits on the site. Bloody hell that's tall.
We whiled away our time before the match by walking our way around Dublin and I found the people to be always up for a chat, with a great sense of humour, too.
My impression is that the Brits tend to more wary and shy of strangers, whereas the Irish love to chat, enjoying the wit.
No tickets but we watched the match in the Camden from the bar. On the walk back to my hotel, the pubs were packed and the atmosphere was well lively.
As you can tell, I had a cracking time and thanks to the Dubliners for the warm welcome.
I'll definitely return.
