The surprising thing for me, is that after the major mistake of leaving a passenger to die on an island, everyone thought it would be ok to continue the cruise.
"Imagine our surprise when the Coroner and Health & Safety Inspectorate recalled the ship to return immediately to port".
Why they didn't do that immediately after the death, is beyond words.

The Captain is ultimately responsible. Who he takes down with him, is for the inquest to determine.

Agreed.

Old people die on cruise ships on a regular basis, due to natural causes, and this doesn't stop the cruise.

However it is the manner of this death that raises concerns. She was allowed to wander off on her own and then was not missed when they returned to the ship. 2 very big mistakes by the company. This puts the rest of the passengers at risk and so cancelling was the right decision.
