they're perfectly safe and there are no side effects because they've been invented by very clever scientists, and anybody who thinks otherwise is a conspiracy theorist

They are not safe and have been designed for the very same reason statins were to make a lot of $$$$ not caring one bit about long term out comes.

These people want you sick and on meds all your life.

You want to reduce your mass simple do it the right way through proper nutrition and lifestyle changes.

And, surprise surprise, the upper limit recommended for your blood pressure is being lowered, leading the way for a few thousand more people to be put on medication.

Yep.

To be fair high blood pressure is a real issue it's a good move but it's as you say to put people on meds not get them really healthy through diet/lifestyle. (They wanted to they would educate people and medical professionals correctly not use made up guidelines which are not even science based)

The trouble is, how do you get people to take up a healthier lifestyle - exercise, nutritional/dietary changes - when there are short cuts that don't require any effort apart from remembering to take your pills at the appointed time. Sadly, the majority will take the easy option, and don't have the willpower or motivation to make any changes in their lifestyle.

First is to educate correctly it's surprising that when you have authority figures giving you proper info and putting the scare to you what can happen. (scamdemic was prime example)

Next govt should do more they come out with a claimed sugar tax which was a complete farce.

A lot of these people that choose not to do diet/lifestyles changes are self inflicted diseases if they are capable and refusing you offer them no treatment why should resources be wasted on these people that are choosing to not help themselves. (Prime example is obesity and diabetes type 2 both can be solved with 0 medications so they shouldn't even be offering pills for them)

Of course you need to offer support to people you cant expect them to just go do these changes by themselves.
