Not a lot of detail yet. Just more Trump bs followed by embarrassing fawning from Starmer. If though what I think Trump said is true then this feels very bad indeed.

Letting in US beef raised through the use of hormones ought to never be agreed. It’s a red line for me.

Doing any kind of “deal” with Trump after his bully boy tactics is something that hands him a win which send completely the wrong message. I would rather we just turned our back, suffered the short term pain and looked elsewhere.

Mandelson was much better. Speaking directly to Trump he told him some home truths very diplomatically. In a way that Trump will now find hard to avoid acknowledging.

Also, Starmer said today that there will be no reduction in UK food standards.

From what I can see, not that much has really been agreed.

Even the BBC are saying, "Analysts said it did not appear to meaningfully alter the terms of trade between the countries, as they stood before the changes introduced by Trump this year."

I do have to wonder how this will affect Starmer's wet dreams of rejoining the eu, though...

Let’s hope so. Trump said something like “we have a lot of beef”, implying they have some that meets our standards. Which I very much doubt. So let’s see what happens. If we have opened the door providing our standards are complied with then nothing has actually changed at all. It’s an agreement on paper only which is just window dressing for the US public.

Haha yeah. People realising it’s far easier being in opposition and shouting from the sidelines than actually being the ones responsible for making things happen.

Be interesting to see Reform’s manifesto if their polling holds up towards the next election.

There was a lot of fantasy in the last one as they knew they could get away with it.

The NHS is fetishist sacred cow. If some form of privatisation made it work better and deliver better outcomes I would be all for it.
