Sir Kier Starmer gets a trade deal with USA, No one could see Badenoch getting anything other than a major row. Trump said
  • A "tough negotiator": At the start of their joint news conference, Trump called Starmer "a very tough negotiator", adding that he "earned whatever the hell they pay him over there". On whether the UK Prime Minister had convinced his counterpart not to impose trade tariffs on the UK, Trump added "he tried"

Starmer did do well....and you know what he didn't do? He didn't listen to any of the whinging and petty hatreds coming from his activist base. A collective who seem to be completely devoid of any common sense at all and less tact.

Thanks to descendants like them we are now no more a significant country in Europe than Italy and despite Germany's insanity they will remain the top country in Europe...at least for now.

However we get to trade off of our history with the US, none of which stems from today's typical smooth brains in the Labour party.....Who continually slag off those people of the past while in reality we have to scramble to benefit from the work those people of the past did in building those relationships.

If we were still in the EU we wouldn't be able to escape these tariffs either.

We have morons in the press to don't seem to understand economics nor defence and intelligence, nor our reduced position in the world and talk utter tripe.

Trump played with Starmer who was mostly kept quiet and when he did speak he just spluttered banalities. Trump patronisingly referred to Starmer's beautiful accent. What!

Surprisingly, it sounds like Trump will agree to us giving away the Chagos islands.

The Americans realise British achievements in the field of technology. Cambridge based ARM holdings chips are the foundation stone of Nvidia and other cutting edge techs success.

That would surprise me, but I think he will probably defer to the DoD.

I know that DOGE will turn to the pentagon budget and America have massive numbers of bases all over the world. If they are in anyway serious about cutting the two trillion that exists between tax take and spending then they will have to reduce the number of bases......I wouldn't be surprised to see a cut of thirty or forty percent.

ARM is very good.....again, a legacy of past times.

But dude, that's a drop in the ocean.

When it comes to tech we aren't a major player anymore.

Nvidea tried to buy ARM but failed, so I don't know about a 'foundation stone'.....with Nvidea I would have thought that was Cuda.

I understand they need to reduce their costs Stirling, but isn't Chagos in a strategically vulnerable position - for them and us?

Arm is still going no death notices...and their chips need far less instruction, have a look at Cambridge business park very instructive.I bought ARM shares at £1.00 when they traded on LSE.

Yep, I guess we will see just how far they are willing to cut......They are 36 trillion in debt and adding two trillion each year at the moment......Debt interest is over another trillion a year.

It can't just continue.....What Trump is doing is pure patriotism while what was happening previously was raiding their future.

That said, when you look at the numbers, it's going to take magic to completely wipe out that deficit.

You can see why there's massive investment into AI at the moment.....the west are aging welfare economies and automation needs to kick in fast......We are living in a time of transition and many jobs are going to alter.
