I see the pogues are doing another reunion tour at the end of the year. I always said I wouldn't go again after the last time I seen them in 2010. Ended in disaster that night in the Olypimia in Dublin. Poor Shane was worse for wears and they obviously had a falling out before going on stage. I've seen there new reunion on YouTube with special guests and I'm very looking forward to seeing them in Belfast in December. Anyone else a pogues fan on here? It will be a great tour. More of a celebration than anything else. I'm just trying to lighten the mood on here as that match thread last night was depressing.

You're not claiming them as Irish?

Well to be fair a lot of them are Irish or of Irish descent.

But are they now really The Pogues? We have sadly lost so many of the original band that they are like so many touring versions of the great bands of our youth, a shadow of heir former selves.

Don't get me wrong I was there back in the heady days of the early gigs at places like the Cricketers at the Oval or the Swan at Stockwell.

I saw the slow but inevitable self destruction of Shane and was lucky enough to see them so many times.

But now with guest singers not The Pogues any more.

I tend to agree and it's why I wouldn't bother.

one day a year celebrating Guinness day.

its ironic how a whole identity got taken over by a Corporate entity. Especially one that supported the occupiers during the 1916 Easter Rising.

Gunness was quite British and quite Sectarian.

I said that too but when I watched the shows the done, red roses for me and rum sodomy and the lash I said I'll go to this. It's not the Pogues anymore but the won't be charging stupid prices like the Eagles (etc) did. As I said it's more a celebration than anything. Lost so many in the last few years.

the Touring Pogues is now like the Touring Stranglers. But a shadow of their former selves. RiP

Soon they will all be like Bjorn Again. A mere tribute act.

Yeah not the pogues anymore. Only spider, jem and James the original members on the tour. I will go and have a good night but I know it's not going to be the same as it was back in the point days. Was lucky enough to see them loads of times. You always knew from the first minute how it was going to go. When Macgowan was on form he was great but I've seen him in some shapes too. Had to get wheeled on stage in letterkenny years ago. Ended up pissing himself and sick all over himself on stage. That was with the Popes though. They were all I'm bad shape that night
