George Floyd Race Matters Pledges
Today, Chief Executive Katherine Kerswell and I welcomed community groups, businesses and organisations to Braithwaite Hall for the Annual George Floyd Race Matters Pledges event. Co-hosted with Croydon BME Forum, the groups pledged to make a difference in our community, to improve the experiences of global majority residents in our borough. We were honoured as a Council to reaffirm our commitment to the George Floyd Race Matters Pledges.
The initiative started in 2022 in response to calls for change in the wake of the brutal murder of George Floyd in the USA. We will continue working together to make Croydon a place where everyone feels valued, has a voice and is free from racism and all forms of discrimination. Very mistakenly I thought this was an American matter.[/td]
