Srt. file / subtitles ?

Is it possible to load the subtitles with a film thats been downloaded, so they are viewable when the film is played on ones TV?
I know how to do it via VLC media player if you watch on a laptop but cannot manage for a file for the Tv.
Anybody know?

I used the 'My Movies' app to copy and show films on TV and there is a facility to show subtitles, but it needs a PC connected.

Have you checked the language options in the Settings function on your TV? I'm not an expert, although I understood most Smart TVs have a facility for subtitles..
