Interesting article from the Independent on Fergie.

I was surprised to learn that he was being paid £2m pa for glad handing and hosting lunches. However according to this article it was to stop him criticising the club owners. Perhaps the faithful at Old Trafford might like to consider that. The Glaziers ownership of the club has been dreadful and yet never a word from Fergie.

Anyway this is the danger of having a legend hanging about in the dressing room. Not only does he impact the current manager but he is not free to voice his opinions on how the club is run.

They were paying him about twice as much as Kobbie Mainoo.

as a young man, in his playing career, Fergie was a dirty violent hacker. And never won much silverware.

And even when you consider the Silverware Fergie won at ManUre, Carlo Ancelotti would have taken home three or four times the weight. Certainly with those kind of financial resources.

I’m not so sure because Fergie went through several cycles and overhauls as manager. He won plenty of domestic honours. It’s tough in the champions league when you have to compete with the likes of Rral Madrid bankrolled by banks and effectively the government.

I doubt Ancelotti beats Real Madrid in a European final with Aberdeen though... Fergie was a winner, and a ruthless barsteward.
