selhurst stadium speakers

did any one notice that towards the back end of last season, palace installed around 6 of these wembley style speakers at selhurst ? they hung on top of the holmesdale and whitehorse stand. the quality of sound was unbelievable and you could actually hear the stadium announcer crystal clear.............. anyway, palace seem to have removed them this season and the speakers thats left sound worse than ever again. (notably the fredricstad game when the speakers crackled like hell)


im really hoping they get them back to make the match day experience even better!!

I noticed one game last season, towards the end, when Glad All Over started playing after a win.... It was loud and pumping and i thought the atmosphere was incredible!!!! It was so good!

I did see a few complaints on here though from people saying it was too loud and i think those close to the speakers thought it was shocking, whereas me in lower tier thought it was rocking!!!

It only happened the once. so assume it was a test. Hope they can find a middleground as an increase in volume really helped improve celebrations at the end.

You will get your wish, they are upgrading the entire sound system in Selhurst - this is what Steve Parish wrote in the Fredrikstad programme

'After a successful trial of a temporary solution last season we are working towards installing a state-of-the-art PA system. This will require a phased approach, so thank you for your patience whilst this work is underway in the coming months - we are confident the long-term results will provide a significant upgrade to your matchday experience.'

Haven’t been to a selhurst yet this season but I stood on the furthest row back in the homesdale upper last game of the season and had the same thoughts about the sound quality. Some of songs played pre match was like being at a rave lol. I did genuinely think to myself that it was a low-key safety risk as they dangle above people in the lower tier and the way they are fastened to the roof was a bit mad!
