Rosenior…The circle is now complete

Chelsea have appointed Liam Rosenior as new manager on a five and a half year contract. He takes over from Enzo Maresca the man who has brought them in tens of millions of pounds when he got them into the Champions League and won the Club World Cup with a very young squad. Rosenior on the other hand was just two matches away from bringing Strasbourg into the Champions League, having just beaten European Champions PSG away, but lost both to teams struggling to avoid relegation. Indeed his team only had to draw their last game at home to Le Harve to get into the Europa League. There is some suggestion that Tod Boehly had failed to put Strasbourg into a blind trust in time (like Palace) and had Chelsea qualified for the same European league in a lower position, which was at one stage highly likely, they would be relegated downwards.

Now Strasbourg had three players on loan from Chelsea and one from Marinakis’s Nottingham Forest. The Forest player, Omobamidele, a young, up and coming player was booked four times prior to the penultimate game at which point he was suspended. Strasbourg lost 2-1 away but he was brought back for the final important game. Chelsea lost their penultimate game and looked destined for the Europa League as were Strasbourg. In the 94th minute Omobamidele conceded a penalty and was sent off. His team were overtaken by Olympic Lyonnaise, also owned by Marinakis and dropped to the Europa Conference League.

So who gained. Well, Chelsea won their last match away to Forest, made loads of money, are in the Champions League and sacked their manager for doing this. Omobamidele was sold to Strasbourg for an inflated fee and no doubt a wage rise. Forest got rid of this loose cannon and gained a place in the Europa League. Liam Rosenior despite failing is promoted to Chelsea Manager on a big fat contract…..as long as he keeps his mouth shut!!!

The losers. Strasbourg and their fans. This independent Club now finds itself a feeder for Chelsea and unlikely to get a chance of Champions League football again in the near future. And now Palace who’s pointless matches against “also rans” in the ECL has severely affected our squad, league position and manager.

None of this is at all dodgy. I guarantee the Strasbourg fans are well happy.

Their supporters federation just put out the following statement:

"The transfer of Liam Rosenior marks another humiliating step in Racing's subservience to Chelsea. For two and a half years, along with others, we have been trying to raise the alarm about this.

"The problem goes far beyond the mid-season sporting impact and the ambitions of a young coach. It is structural; the future of French club football is at stake.

"Every additional contortion by Marc Keller, every extra minute spent at the helm of the club, is an insult to the tremendous work accomplished before 2023. What was seen by many as an outrageous move last September increasingly looks like sound advice: he must leave. Now.

"The FSRCS will coordinate closely with the three other associations actively fighting against multiple ownership, as well as all people of goodwill, to define the next steps."

Have to feel for them; what a horrible situation.

Strasbourg fans need the HF to do a display. That will f***ing teach Chelsea, the FA, FIFA and UEFA.
Actually, I would be disappointed if the HF didn’t do a display seeing as Strasbourg did a display in support of us when we played them. Any HF on this site can perhaps confirm if they can do this?
