This is interesting (copy and paste) and a useful summary from the BBC with regard to the likelihood of the bottom three changing:
Bottom three will make history if they survive relegation
If any of the current bottom three of West Ham United, Burnley or Wolves manage to stay up this season, they will make history.
All three are currently cut adrift from safety and will require record-breaking ends to their respective campaigns if they are to retain their Premier League status.
The closest to safety at the moment are West Ham who are seven points behind Nottingham Forest in 17th - but even they will need to find something that has never before been achieved.
According to Opta, before the 2025-26 season, 18 teams have been 7+ points from safety after 21 games played in the Premier League. None have survived.
And, before this season, there were 27 instances of a team having 14 (or fewer) points after 21 games of a Premier League campaign.
25 were relegated.
