I've just become a fan of this genre.

Especially like Camel, Rush, Gentle Giant, Yes and Renaissance (who seem to be the only prog rock band with female singer).

Any other fans of this music?

Yes, some great music there. Rush are one of the greatest 3 piece bands there has ever been. My favourite Prog Rock group are Marillion and I also listen to a lot of Steven Wilson and Porcupine.

I have Selling England by the Pound and have listened to In the Court of the Crimson King. I enjoyed both.

May I suggest Ashes are Burning by Renaissance and The Moody Blues’ Days of Future Passed. Two of my favourites!

I wouldn't call the Moody's a Prog Rock group - good band though, I've got three of their albums. Saw them live a couple of times too.

Was a big fan of Yes in their earlier days , saw them a few times including at The Rainbow in north London and an outdoor concert at Loftus road , the Yes album is probably the turning point in my appreciation of my musical tastes. Another band I was into was The Enid, glorious symphonic rock, shame that with all bands is that they evolve and lose their originality, still listen to the older stuff though and Mr A still putting some amazing stuff on staffies (Still remembered) MP3 thread

I’ve got their first album and then their glorious run of seven albums with their established lineup once Justin Hayward had joined.

I know that they’re not considered a prog rock group per say but Days of Future Passed does often feature in some people’s lists of top prog rock albums.

I also think that Shazam (awesome album!) by The Move should perhaps be considered prog rock too.

Great thread for the old fools like me ! I was a big fan of Genesis. Saw them many times Hammersmith, Knebworth etc. Anyone remember Argent ? I saw them at the Greyhound in Croydon around 1971.

I saw Genesis at the Greyhound too. If I remember they played the Fairfields Hall a few weeks later.
They were really good in the Gabriel years. Lamb Lies Down on Bdoadway was their last decent album in the mid seventies and went commercial after Steve Hackett left.

The Greyhound on Sunday evenings were fantastic. Roxy Music, Alex Harvey, Genesis and even Queen if I remember correctly. The only concert I ever left early was Stray.

Yes we're excellent too. I've seen them and Rick Wakeman a number of times over the years.....

I've got The Cellar (Cardigan) as a nearest venue for bands of various genres. Sendelica play there regularly and are very prog rawk. Very early Floyd. The band seems to be made of oldies, so doubt they're gonna blaze a trail at this stage in their lives...and certainly not beyond the borders of Ceredigion and Camarthenshire. 😀
