Players out of contract this year

Bit worried about the amount of players getting close to end of contract:-

Hughes - been brilliant

Clyne - squad player

Ward - Love him but not playing

Schlup - going on loan to Blackburn ?

Mitchel - Spurs and co sniffing around him

Turner - Goal Keeper

Mathews - Goal Keeper

Plange - bit of a disappointment

Chalobah - done well for us - But back to Chelsea after loan finishes

Chalobah was always likely to be a one season deal. We may try and buy but I expect Chelsea will want c£30m for him at least which might be too much for us. Defence is a concern as Guehi is very likely to leave so that would mean we lose two of this season’s best back three. Hopefully Dougie and co are already planning for this.

If Guehi leaves and Chelsea are reported to be interested, could a deal be done for Chalobah to be a part exchange? I have seen the comments about Mitchel's contract seems to be conflicting reports, Hughes for me has to be the most improved player, surely we must offer him a new contract?

I’ve no doubt we will offer Hughes a new deal. The question is if somebody else offers him more money than we are willing to

Length of contract might be an issue as well. If Palace offered only 1 year (he is 29 I believe) and someone offered 3 years he would be a mug to turn down the extra security on offer, almost regardless of money. A bit like Andersen.

I believe Mitchell is NOT out of contract this Summer and that his contract was extended till Summer 2027. Glasner has said that he is confident that Hughes will be still with is for at least next season. Clearly from the way eh was speaking at the press conference, moves are well advanced in agreeing an extended or new contract for the player.

As for the others, I would only contemplate:

• keeping Clyne and
• buying Chalobah if the price is right

Turner's loan will be over and the others can be let go.
