I conveniently forget all of the losses to them. The 5-0 was hilarious - really kicking them when they were down. I even started to feel sorry for them at that time.
They're nearly worthy rivals again now. Nearly.
I have a funny feeling we'll luckily beat them. Which is always nice.

What was that lucky memorable match we won, that I've forgot? As it's so memorable.

Was it Benteke when they were all over us? A volley from a tight angle? We won with one shot on goal, or maybe two, they had about 15.

Best……beating them 3-1 at selhurst in the early season sunshine in 1978, incredible atmosphere and I think we sensed then what a special season it was going to be

Worst…..3-0 defeat at the goldstone Boxing Day 1979, apart from losing, at my tender age carnage of which I’d never seen before outside the ground

btw it does make me laugh when you hear fans under the age of 40 singing ‘and we will fight forever more because of boxing day’ when they weren’t even born 😀

Best (even better than the 5-0) has surely to be the 2nd leg play-off semi-final victory at the Amex after scraping an ill-deserved draw in the first leg at Selhurst, with Wilf putting them to the sword!

I actually missed that one, otherwise I would’ve agreed with you.
Also although I was there, the 5-0 was slightly tainted for me because sir Steve of Coppell was their manager 😔

They were mental days at the Goldstone back then. Seen things there that I've never seen at football since.

It was. In the 94 th. minute after they'd been pretty much all over us - a Roy smash & grab job. The Brighton thing doesn't really bother me but a late winner is always a good feeling and we don't do it very often.

Yes, remember that, also 1987, April lost 2-0 at goldstone, Palace players booed at the end, Wright just gave a shrug of his shoulders, think Rudy Hedman was playing, after game, all kicked off again, happy days 🤣

An honourable mention for the Kelvin Morton 5 penalty of which 4 were missed game. I think things had calmed down a bit where the rivalry was concerned and it wasn’t a big crowd if I remember right, but a crazy game

Mayhem wasn’t it, I was only a kid, but having been to Chelsea and Millwall away by then, I thought I’d seen it all, how wrong was I??

That’s why it does make me smile when the big shots these days talk about the ‘violence’ now, what they mean is who can shout loudest at each other from the safety of a police cordon or behind a fence. You see more violence on Tom & Jerry cartoons these days 😀

I remember being at the Goldstone with dad and the Brighton lot chanting 'You'll never reach the station'. Poor old chap was terrified that his Ford Anglia would get trashed and we couldn't get home. No idea when it was.

Definitely the 70’s 👍🤣

I think I was at that one. I remember a grey day, coin throwing through the mesh fence between fans, losing, and a grim coach ride back to South London.

My memory is fuzzy for old games, but the crazy penalties game against Brighton springs to mind. How many was it? 4,5?

I remember a game in the sunshine where Brighton fans tried to take the Holmesdale. They failed.
Funny times.

Not sure about that Monkey. I was married in '71 and it was definitely before that. Anyway they stopped making the Anglia in ''67 so more likely late sixties. Fact is it was all a tad scary.

What having an anglia or palace v Brighton? 🤣🤣

My uncle had one in the early 70’s it was his pride and joy
