The problem for Palace is that Atalanta has already qualified for the final stages of the Champions League despite its poor showing in Serie A. Why would it sell a key player at this stage unless the club was in some financial trouble which is unlikely given the millions available for further qualification?

I made an error in that Atalanta have not yet qualified as there are two games left not one. However they have two winnable matches left, Bilbao and the Belgian Union Galloise. The last league match is on the 28th January so if they fail to make final eight the playoffs are after the transfer window closes anyway. If we are still keen there is little chance of anything happening before the summer. They beat Chelsea l/n & going well in the CL. Looks like he plays on the right of a back 3, where we already have Richards, Riad, Canvot & Kporha. I know that Richards can play across the back 3 & has done so. Not sure this is a 'goer'.
