No Guehi or Wharton in England Squad

And Thomas Tuchel says Jordan Henderson has been picked so he can run coaching sessions and set the standard

He certainly set a new standard by assisting Ajax in squandering a 9 point lead in the last 5 games

So why doesn't he just employ him as a bloody coach then? Hun b******

After last summer's international related exhaustion perhaps no bad thing though might be a blow for both of them

And completely nuts based on ability of those who are selected instead

But could be because they are not going to be available because of the head injuries suffered in the final. Maybe we will find out in the press conference

EDIT - No, Wharton is in the U21s again. Criminal omission.
Yes both are injured

Don't forget the rest of the tournament it ends with the final on 28th June, all held in Slovakia.

Guehi is injured but I would say is now England's first choice centre back. Not worried about him.

Wharton omission seemed crazy but Tuchel has said he wants him in the U21 championships this summer leading the group.

I think he rates him highly and, after this summer, I would expect him to become important for England.

Honestly, I think a midfield of Rice, Wharton and Bellingham could win the World Cup and now Palace have won a trophy, I suddenly believe England could too.

Ollie is being, typically, extremely sensible in handling of Wharton. I'm not surprised the lad doesn't remember the Final, because he went out like a light for a few moments after that ball hit him. I was worried for him at the time. Anyway, a long rest will do him good.

Pleased for Eze. Scoring against Latvia seems to have been the turning point in his season and he's got a great chance of minutes. European football and starting for England helps to make the case that he can have it all by staying a bit longer.

Pleased for Henderson. He's got into a consistent run of form and has a great chance of starting one of the games. Clearly in the top 2 conversation with Pickford. Good for England to have two decent options for the first time in a long time.

Sensible decision on Guehi. England don't need him to get past Andorra and a Senegal friendly. He needs a rest. Hopefully he's our player next season so we benefit from his rest.

Shame about Wharton but he was always going to be in that U21 squad - England want to win it. His body will get a couple of weeks rest now as he can't train. Once he is back, fortunately England have a strong midfield (Scott, Bellingham Jnr, Gray, Anderson). Therefore you'd hope they can leave him out of the first two group games (Czechs and Slovenia) and use him when needed against the big boys. Palace then slowly reintegrate him when he turns up at the start of August.

Tyrick isn't going to make an England squad again until he can demonstrate he can consistently put good crosses in. He's as good a defender as any LB in the league - unfortunately it's Wan-Bissaka take 2. It works great for Palace because it gives Eze a bit more freedom but it isn't England levels. I suspect Hall and Lewis-Skelly will be fighting it out for that role for the foreseeable.

Agree

Re Wharton, I took it as a good thing. e.g. Tuchel wants the U21s to win the tournament vs him playing 2 meaningless games with England.

Agree on that starting 3, world beating.

maybe, look at his crosses last 3 months & they have been awful.

i am a massive fan of TM. but the above is a part of his game that has been really poor.
Kept england capped Chilwell out of our team.

I take your point, but look at the comp. A fit Luke Shaw yes, but no reason Mitchell should not make the squad.

I would pick him before Lewis Kelly and Hall against the best teams. So solid in defence and unbreakable.

Baffling.

Totally agree, but his last few performances, especially at Anfield, is that he seems to have awakened to improving/changing his game for the better. I was hoping with Glasner's coaching staff that may have happened sooner, but Anfield was proof that he is now responding to the coaching. If he keeps heading in this direction, we will have a top level left wing back on our books. Keep it going Mitchell. Munoz and Mitchell both with the energy levels that Munoz has shown all season will be awesome.
