Name a Player Without Whom We’d Not Have Won the Cup

Country
England
Players that directly and irreplaceably contributed to this period of success. The more obscure/tenuous the connection the better (think near-butterfly effect type links).
I’ll go first: Glenn Murray.

Peter Ramage / Tunchev (one or both were on loan at the start of the 2011 season from memory).

The long drawn out chain reaction of reasoning being:

1. They were vying for the right back slot at the start of the 2011 season.
2. Joel Ward then joined and nailed down the right back slot.
3. Joel Ward then produced *that* goal line header in the play-off final against Watford to seal promotion.
4. The team built from there, resulting in the win at the weekend.

Tenuous, perhaps. But they were both important first team players back in 2011.

Alan Pardew. As a player his goal got us into the 1990 Cup Final and, as our manager he took us to Wembley in 2016.

He could dance too!
