I'm not joining the pile on against Mateta.

The guy wanted to leave last Summer and has been playing with an injury.

I expect he will have surgery now, but if he is playing in a Palace shirt, then it makes no sense to barrack him. If he scores goals, then everybody should be happy.

I hope he can get fit and finish the season with a flourish. Then we can wave him off with no hard feelings. He is an FA Cup winner.

Agree but he does deserve a bit of humouress stick.
All said JP is a Palace legend and helped bring 2 trophies to us!
Think he should get the surgery done asap and he may well be fit in time for a World Cup call up. Seriously think he's f***ed his knee up kicking corner flags though

the only problem with this is that the surgery will put him out for 4 months so he won't return til june at the earliest.

Munoz was 6 weeks. Blimey he wants more healing time as well. Greedy fecker!

Ye well put. It's classic case of poor guidance and footballer IQ. JP always came across as a fun lad but I think it's fair to say maybe not the sharpest tool in the box.

His goal of playing in the World Cup is a good one, and I think his best chance of that would have been to have sorted his form out and start banging them in for us. Get the call up and then get the 'big club' move. I don't think anyone would have begrudged him that.

His agent obviously saw some dollar signs and through a series of poor decisions JP and his agent have now put everything at risk. For the rest of the season JP is no longer guaranteed to be a regular and light has been shone on major fitness concerns.

I said in another post, I hope it all works out for him as I'd still enjoy seeing him at the world cup and if he gets there it means we would have benefited from 'good' Mateta and can then sell him for maximum value.
