Liam Roberts. Millwall 'keeper

Will not have a significant impact on Millwall as Liam Roberts is their No 2 goalkeeper.
He has only played for Millwall 6 times this season, only 2 in the League.
I don't believe that the other goalkeepers in their ranks have played in the First Team.
Last season, Connal Trueman was back-up but he has been sold to MK Dons.

It is more of a deterrent effect on other goalkeepers, hopefully

A lot of people say that despite the outcome it was still an honest mistake. I'm very liberal normally and can see each side of every coin but as for this incident, of course he didn't mean to get studs-to-face, but this was no accident. He went full on into that challenge looking to prove a point but wasn't capable of handling his own body.

But their moronic fans want him to be first choice. Oh well, never mind

It won’t affect Millwall greatly, if their first choice gets injured maybe it would.
The ban is aimed at all goalkeepers mainly, but hopefully all players will take it on board. If there was a rule banning the foot being raised above waist height, no ifs no buts, there would be no excuse for supposedly accidentally inflicting serious injury. P

Same as yourself. I try to be liberal, forgiving and understanding. And to forgive people of sh1.tty behaviour....if it does appear to be a once off.

But i heard a rumour he already got a Red card in his career ? I always take repeat-behaviours much more seriously than the odd mistake. Does anybody know if he has previous form for being a dirty player ?

He received a Red card playing for Northampton for handling outside the area.

In my mind he panicked. He was already trying far too hard. The game was only 8 minutes old he madly decided to chase out to clear an incoming through ball. Next thing he knew he was outside of his area so in a split second he decided to fly hack it up the pitch. He should have gone for a header, but maybe was scared of colliding heads (which ironically could have been worse at the speeds they were both travelling).
His total involvement was way way out of line. He should have been in the six yard box ready to protect the goal. Rushing out as he did way out of the area is what gave him the problem.
The annoying part of all this is that whatever happens to him re any ban obviously is irrelevant to us.
But he was well out of order, arguably cost his team the match, and acting like he did, an out of practise reserve who was not prepared for such a big day.
It was like a pub game incident but with fitness levels of professional athletes, resulting in such a nasty outcome.
Thank God Mateta is ok. According to OG, he may even be back for Fulham.
And as OG said the guy probably had 0.1 second to decide what to do having already completely messed up.
I am guessing at a 6 match ban for what its worth.
