In 2021 UK immigration officers arrested two illegals in Glasgow, the van was surrounded by " local people " expressing solidarity with the illegals. Outcome, police did nothing and the illegals were released by the immigration officers who were in a potentially very dangerous situation.

(SNP were quite happy with all this)

LA now basically has not only the usual antifa mob in place but hundreds of people with foreign flags confronting US police, ICE and now National Guard, that is an insurrection

Yes, compare Wisbech's condemnation of the Southport disturbances with his dismissal of the Los Angeles riots as just protests. His hypocrisy is breathtaking but not unexpected.

They were until the National Guard got called in.

If the last few years have taught us nothing else, it's that no one appears to know what an insurrection actually looks like.

It's all wildly hyperbolic language....because culture war.

A real insurrection is armed and uses them because that's the only way you can overthrow something

All this is tart stuff.

There was a case going to the Supreme Court about this, I never heard what happened. As you said the Democrats called it an insurrection which in the constitution has legal implications. Personally I would call it a riot.

Much the same as we argue over genocide it is not merely semantics if Jan 6 is legally declared as not an insurrection then many of those charged and found guilty were done so under the wrong laws.

It would certainly be helpful if the SC ruled on it.

It's like the word assault.

It can legally be used for situations we all know are b0llocks.

The world would be a better place if eighty percent of lawyers were put in stocks.....and we changed the definitions for these things....but lets put the lawyers in stocks anyway.
 
without wishing to sound alarmist, if a contagion of this LA thing was to spread. Say, to many East Coast cities.........the the US could be described as being into another Civil War.

And some places would already be a hotbed of division and strife. Miami, Baltimore, Chicago, and lots of Democrat strongholds.

Complaints about the Feds using heavy handed tactics.

LA is a Sanctuary city the Police under local laws are not allowed to assist the Feds in relation to immigration. There are many no go areas in LA controlled by gangs, if the LA police wish to arrest someone high profile for say drugs, they will often ask a third party such as a priest to persuade that person to give themselves up rather than go in heavy handed.

However because the police are not allowed to provide local support to ICE they have no choice but to protect themselves, in these gang controlled areas, by flooding the area with their own people.

The politicians who caused the problem in the first place them blame ICE for heaving handed tactics.

By the way the usual suspects in Hollywood are suspiciously quiet? Perhaps they are fearful of the riots spreading to their neighbourhood after all who is going to do the gardening or maid work? 😀
