Has died aged 88. A great songwriter who was a charismatic live performer. He was never that good a singer but the songs were so good it didn't matter.

A few years ago my wife was the only person to recognise him in a coffee shop in Edinburgh. And I wasn't there. Oh, well, never meet your heroes as they say.

He had a wild thing going on with the wild Janis Joplin at one time, but I associate him mainly with Pat Garrett and Billy the Kid, largely because I watched it to see Bob Dylan who also wrote the theme music including Knockin' on Heaven's Door.

Kristofferson was a good songwriter and he lived a good life. RIP.
