Joel Ordóñez

If he has serious injury concerns it’s right not to sign him.

This leaves us still desperately needing defensive cover if the signing doesn’t happen. Right now we have four out and out centre halves to play in a back three. One of those has a poor injury record and is consequently a bit of an unknown quantity. We then have a couple of players who can fill in but for whom it isn’t the first choice position. That’s not enough quality or depth

Oh look, it's going to cost 57 million to replace the gaping hole left in our defence by selling Lacroix for far too little. That can already be put down as wonderful business. Hugely surprising how that works.
Why did we sell Lacroix without getting a proper replacement first? It seems bonkers.

Did we really think that starting the season with two CBs who have a history of serious injuries was a good idea?

I despair.

We had no idea Riad was going to get badly injured and we do have replacements.
It wasn’t exactly a massive shock him getting injured though was it given his record? Like some others I’d argue relying on Riad was always going to end in tears because he has yet to show he can cope with Premier League football. More bad games for us than good.

Going into the season relying on a centre half of unproven quality with a terrible injury record was appalling planning.

We had no idea Riad was going to get badly injured and we do have replacements.
So we had no idea that a player with with a history of serious injuries might get injured?

Do you want to think about that again?

We have signed no replacment for Lacroix. Disasi has no pace. Tomiyasu is another injury risk on a free and Mingueza is a right back.
