Joe Gomez

I always saw him as a weak link in a Liverpool team. However a fan tells me this weakness is a consequence of his utility use. Master of none. Play him exclusively as CB and he is the nuts.

I have been reliably informed in a conversation last night that Gomez has been deployed in central defence and in both full-back positions.He was playing at right-back at Charlton before his transfer to Liverpool but Brendan Rodgers played him at left-back when he first joined the club.It was thought at the time that his future lay in central defence and Liverpool later played him in this position.
 
Wage and transfer fee are surely going to be the same as Andersen so this could only mean Guehis going.

...and everywhere else, chopping from game to game to fill gaps. Often as a sub. Not enough playing time and not enough specialist role play to show his true worth.
 
The fact he plays right-back and centre-back might mean he'd be suited to playing on the right side of a back three. Richards doesn't look comfortable there this season. £45 million is far too much for a 27-year-old squad player of his ability though. That's the scouse tax. Last season was the first time in his career that he appeared in more than 30 league games and even then he only played 90 minutes in 12 of them. Unless the fee is half that of what has been rumoured then this seems a no-go option.

agreed, even though he is an international, he has not been first choice for Liverpool for quite some time and has missed a lot of time through injury, £25mil seems about right.

he did play 51 times last season so hopefully over injury concerns. But i do agree that £25m is about right but reckon we'll get him for £30m.
 
It’s beginning to feel like Gomez is being lined up for Right centre back and Lecroix in the middle provided Guehi is sold. If the deal for Guehi is as near done as we’re hearing it could be an interesting day tomorrow.
