ID for European games

Hi all,

Foolishly thinking ahead, but over the past 4 away games in Europe, has anyone heard or people being turned away for not having the right ID that matches the ticket?

I've not heard anything for Lublin, Mostar - but did anyone have that at Strasborg or Ireland?

No nothing yet, I was in the home end for Strasbourg, Shelbourne and Zrinkski though. Didnt have or see any issues with tickets being refused at Fredrikstad or in Lublin either. I think most of the clubs are grateful for whatever extra income they can get.

Most of the clubs advice has been anal or just plain wrong though. If we had followed their advice we would have missed the most beautiful parts of Mostar. When it comes to ticketing if I don't have enough points I'm quite happy to go in the home end as the locals have all been civilised humans so far and 99% of us just want to enjoy this European experience for as long as we can having waited all our palace supporting lives for it to come along. I've met some great people from all walks of life so far, palace and locals. In Dublin there was a lot of unclaimed tickets apparently where people bought for others and then were put off by club threats, which seemed like a lose lose situation to me.

No, nothing.

I had home tickets for Strasbourg (although secured an away ticket on the day).

This whole ID thing is just lip service and one of the pre-match tactics to try and prevent large scale re-sale of tickets. It would be virtually impossible to implement, hence why they don’t seem to try when it actually comes to the game.

They also say it for the Brighton Away games but I’ve yet to be ID checked and have been for the last umpteen seasons.

Likewise, nothing at all. I went to Fredrikstad, Lublin and Mostar and no-one checked for corresponding ID. I haven't had any conversations with anyone that would suggest it occurs at all.

The system at grounds is not set up for this anyway. There are employees in hi-vis checking that fans have a paper ticket or an e-ticket saved to a phone wallet, but that's all they check.

Do you have a ticket? Yes, here it is. Thank you, enjoy the game.

Some of the instructions disseminated by the club, as elgin eeagle mentions above, are overly 'sensitive' and could even diminish the fan experience. Being told to avoid certain bars or areas - I would suggest you could wander round the trinket shops and over-priced tourist restaurants of Mostar Old Town at any time of the night or morning liberally decorated with flags, scarves, shirts and hats and not encounter even the most minor issue - is merely generic advice that does not apply in most situations.

Naples? Yeah, watch your step. Otherwise, the home fans tend to be very welcoming.
