Others may already know this, but I only came across it this morning. Apparently Bert Head offered Botham apprentice terms at Palace in the early 1970s, but he turned it down as he thought he was more likely to be successful in cricket. Not such a bad call I suppose.

Very briefly. One of three England captains who had played for the club.

No, currently 6th in the National League. One place behind Carlisle United, and I'm old enough to remember them briefly topping the old First Division.

he's got very good circulation in his lower legs these days thanks to that watery gadget he advertises, I'm getting to the point where I may have to put in my order, then it's the Stannah, the bath tub with a door attached, and finally sun life insurance. 😕
