Acting legend Gene Hackman has been found dead at his home in New Mexico aged 95.

Although police don't suspect foul play, the bodies of his wife and his dog were also found too.

A quality actor who could do it all.

Sad news made sadder by the addition of his wife and dog. I suspect a letter was left as often happens.

Don't forget the Polish Para commander in A Bridge Too Far, although The French Connection one and two are both brilliant.
RIP to a real acting legend.
French Connection II - one of those desperately underrated movies because it was not the first (and Friedkin didn't direct).

The Scarecrow and the Conversation true auteur era classics.

Sad news and a tad strange too. His wife and dog both died at the same time and police are ruling out foul play. Sounds like one of his movies.

He often came across as either loopy or really badass, a fine actor of his generation who nearly always stole the scene whether Superman's nemesis Lex Luther or submarine captain in Crimson Tide - one of my favourite films.

RIP Mr Hackman

Popeye Doyle.

i heard a rumour that this scene was all ad-libbed and improvised. The actor up against the wall made a face of surprise and fear cos he didnt know Hackman was going to go postal on him. And the jibber-jabber script was a ploy to confuse the fella.
At the end of the scene, That giggle from Roy Scheider was also unscripted.

in the extremely unlikely event of me getting to 95, i wouldnt mind going out in the manner of my own choosing. Although the dog dying at the same time, as the owner, reminds me of Tutenkhamun or hitler.

Wonder did it happen after the Epstein list release announcement? 👀

Yep, and I think the director, Friedkin, encouraged it on the grounds of authenticity. Like the famous car chase under the elevated rail tracks which was mostly filmed live in one shoot in actual traffic at speeds of up to 90mph. The only staged scene was the mother stepping out with a pram. The driver, Bill Hickman also drove the villain's car in the classic Bullitt chase.
