Florida! Student in court over joke

Right wing Florida now have no freedom of speech; well they do as long as it's not anything aimed at Isreal.

The right, have for long, correctly claimed the left want to ban freedom of expression. Now the right seem to it just as much.

See how many people were sacked from their jobs for laughing at Charlie Kirk murder.

Hmmmmm....with so many campus / school shootings in america and someone makes a "joke" asking for bombs to be dropped on other students. I would certainly want that investigated at the very least.

Maybe have the scenario this side of the Atlantic where a student puts a joke into whatsapp group: "hey Hamas let's blow up a synagogue"

If that person went on to do somthing then we would all be blaming the system for not flagging it earlier.

It was quite clearly a joke. Does anyone expect Isreal to actually drop a bomb on the school.

Even if someone said hamas let's blow up a synagogue; are they going to follow that instruction - and the Florida thing is not even a serious comment.

I'm just pointing out how quickly the right are becoming as retarded as the left.

But I agree it's just a joke. But saying such things or even joking about bombing somthing should be investigated at the very least.

If I was to make a joke about bombing some mosques in London. What do you think the response would be?

Just my opinion anyway.

It’s not though news!

Many think there are elements on the right who have always been as retarded as a few on the far left. It’s only in the middle where a sensible discussion can take place.

Yes I agree about the middle part; however the right and the left will only find common ground by discussion. That's how you get to the middle I'd say.

Far right and far left are the same in my eyes. You won't get any disagreement from me, with regards to your far right comments.

Looking at the ignorant and racist comments from people on Conservative channels is embarrassing.

Those on the far left are the same in the way they direct their hate with the same energy.

Counter culture in recent years has been directed towards the left in politics; because left thinking politics has been in charge. This has made the right, in same ways look like the hero's and saviours, (see Trump) but they are not.

I agree with some of that. However the Trump administration has made it clear that hurty words against Isreal will not be tolerated.

How many occasions has there been, where people who commit terror attacks, school shootings etc; have made comments suggesting the police watch them.

People have warned authorities in the past and the attacks still happen.

This is a 23 year old student girl, who I would imagine has no previous.

I get what you mean and agree to some extent. I guess what I'm trying to say is that if a 23 year old girl joked about bombing mosques in London, the police would be at her door within hours, calling it a terror threat. She would be arrested for "inciting racial hatred" or terrorism offences, and every media outlet would scream about rising Islamophobia.

Like you said no hurty words allowed against Israel in the US. I say also no hurrty words about muslims in the UK. We really aren't much different to Trumps administration then...?

( the traditional answer being 'through his stomach' ie feed him well ) .....and she follows up..."with a knife through his shirt-pocket"

Hypocrisy is completely rife across the spectrum - the absolute death of any semblance of principle over the last couple of decades has been quite incredible.

and you are correct in that assertion Eagle. My observation is that The Left have been de-platforming people and disrupting political meetings for ages......and now they don't like it up them.

Mad Trump is the Right's response to the mad Left.

You arrest a lady for silently praying outside an abortion clinic, do not be surprised when you get some grief for praying in the street yourself.

Like everything else: it will only be for certain violent jokes. Others will be fine. For example: there's no outcry over churches being vandalised and burned down. Yet, imagine they were mosques or synagogues. We'd never hear the end of that. It's all become very selective. TV news is more about what they don't report these days.

That's the thing. Far left and Far right are much closer than people think. If you clamour for political or legal intervention on issues, be aware those interventions could also be used by your enemy against you.

And she didn't write 'bomb'. she wrote "bon-bons" I often wonder if these stories are manufactured, with some subversive aim to expand legal thresholds for action, by precedent
What a waste of public money and time.
