Film Scenes That Want To Make You Cry

Taxi Driver

The Pimp Harvey Keitel serenades the vulnerable Jodie Foster. As they slow dance, he tells her that he loves her so much.

I simultaneously wanted to cry and reach for my Colt 45

I've never managed to get through the whole of The Elephant Man. I had to turn it off.

Daft films that make you emotional? How about Dean Spanley.

'I am Spartacus' always brings a lump to the throat.

Bridges of Madison County.
Oh yeah. When Clint is standing in the rain and Meryl Streep's car is at the traffic lights.

That one definitely gets me. Brilliant film.

Somewhere In Time. When Jayne Seymore does her little speech on stage and then when you see her face superimposed on her portrait.

Unapologetically soppy.

Ending of "Life is beautiful" ( La vita è bella, Beningni 1997) . The only movie I've seen so far where you start laughing all the time and end fighting crying although the film is not realistic at all. Highly recommended.

Three moments I can think of that jerk my tears

1. Interstellar

The thought of not being able to watch your kids grow up, missing decades of their lives while you barely age a day would mess with any man's head. Gets me every time.

2. The Last of the Mohicans

The scenery, the music, the loss. One of my favourite movie scenes of all time.

3. The Green Mile

It's just fecking sad watching an innocent simpleton die.

I think there were scenes in Seven Pounds (the Will Smith film) that were harrowing enough to bring a tear or two, but it's been a while since I saw it.

The general downfall of the characters in Requiem For a Dream is another one for me.

Agree re Last of the Mohicans.
Almost perfect in every way.

I’d also put in a vote for The Mission. The scenery and music is fabulous.
