Although we are not close to any of these comps yet I have relented on my thought and think the current format in all 3 is better. The last games have so much jeopardy that most have something riding on it. The old way meant after 4 games the groups were finished a lot of times. Also the fact that teams play each other only once there is a lower chance of working out tactics against them. Now the knockout is back after the league games it’s old school.

I agree, I’ve got to admit I’ve never watched so much European football as I have this season. Plus I do like to watch the old firm in Europe and it’s opened it up for them a bit.
I still don’t understand how they arranged the original fixtures, as in who played who when you’re in a league of so many teams and you only play 8 games, but ignorance is bliss

I did like Man City being close to being knocked out but I watched less as there were loads of mismatches. However, the knockout stages look fruity enough.
