Europa League Money

I’m the same as you Lanzo, that’s surprising, you always hear about how much the champions league is worth, but I’ve never really given the Europa league a thought. I suppose I’ve never had to until now 😁

Decent money for sure.

However it might just cover the outlay.

I remember listening to a podcast a couple of years back (cant remember the life of me who), but they were saying that Europe ultimately cost them money.

You need to sign a few more players, you'll have a few contract renewals and end up paying out more in bonuses etc. We also are going to have some hard costs getting the pitch sorted.

We don't need to change the pitch because it is restricted by the stadium as it is. If we could change it we would have to. But we can't until the development of the new stand is done. I posted the Steve Parish interview where he said this on another Palace in Europe thread.

surely we'll get some portion of the extra TV money on top of this too, though?

If it costs money, whats the point in getting there at all. Prize money isnt the only financial benefit, you have extra home games, TV money and sponsorship revenue.

Cos it will be bloody fun!

But yes, for sure there are lots of other upsides. Shame the new stand isn't already built, would be pretty easy to sell out the hospitality for an European night!

What's the point of supporting a club if it isn't to win things?

Some changes in pitch dimensions were included in the new stand development program.
