The specifics of his claims are open to debate but if you accept that aliens are visiting in the modern era then you must at least consider the possibility that his ideas could hold water.
The accepted timeline of history seems clearly wrong to me. New evidence is emerging all the time. Do ETs fit into this picture? Did they influence human history? It’s a compelling idea. What ever the case, questioning accepted interpretations has to be a good thing. There is plenty left to discover.

No wonder he sold so many books.

Humanity was clearly more advanced at an earlier stage than was commonly believed. There is a lot out there which requires explanation. Pseudoscience is not a great way to discover truths, but keeping an open mind certainly helps.
